I'm setting up a replacement back wheel and I'm planning to replace the fasteners with socket heads. What's the correct size? Thanks!

Hard question to answer since tork can handle more torque than a simple hex.
I wouldn't mess around and just use the same thing it came with originally.

Natexlh is right, those fasteners are very hard, Grade 8 or better IMHO

I bought the rotor here on badweb and it only came with five T40 screws (one got lost or chewed up possibly when the rotor was being unbolted...?). I've had it for a couple of months but only realized today that I was missing a fastener when I went to bolt up the rotor to the wheel onto which I'd mounted a new Diablo Strada for a three-day ride next weekend.

You're right about using adequately spec'd fasteners and I'm hoping I'll be able to get those in allen head bolts. Any one know the specs of the T40?

Edit: There's a reason why I didn't find any posts about suitable replacements - there just aren't any that are readily available! And, when I actually looked at the setup, clearances between the rotor bolts and the caliper carrier are tight.

The rotor bolts are T-40 3/4" long 5/16X18 thread pitch with a shoulder that is approx 1/4" long. They have a button head and the equivalent sized button head allen bolt has a head with an appreciably smaller mating surface to clamp the rotor.

There is not a lot of clearance between the head and the caliper carrier and I'd guess that a regular hex head bolt would rub or be dangerously closing to rubbing part of the caliper carrier.
So the original setup is hard to beat even if torx bolts can be a pita!

See if Al at American Sport Bike will sell you just one bolt.

Good suggestion, Ourdee. I'm going to try to get some from New Castle HD (W. Pa), a local dealer that still supports Buell.

Local is always good if they support.

They should be available per bolt. I had to order qty:6 when I built my spare wheel...
