it's going to be dam hard to ever replace the Ulysses! I'm NEVER going to get rid of mine!

I do NOT want water cooled nor more horsepower, in fact a slightly smaller engine would have worked better for me.

The Ulysses has comfort traveling ability with luggage and good gas mileage, was made in AMERICA and sold at a fair price! Hard to beat that!!!

I live in AZ, and I ride all summer. Liquid cooled is a BIG thing here.

My Uly doesn't much care for 115 degree weather and traffic.

Regardless of what I want, I am willing to bet that whatever EBR releases, it will kick ass.

maybe reduce the displacement to 800-ish (1125 is not needed imo), handle the heat issues best as possible (comfort kit from the factory), and make it 15K with bags and mark my words (wifey says ok) i'm trading the tiger for one!

DR Greg has splashed 2 multistrudles
and a crash on the Demo ride before the the first strudle. He has a two Ulys one rider and a donor He loves the strudles he is off on a ride you can follow on ADVRider. Dr Greg has the most time on the Ulys and Strudles I have heard of.
Hope he chimes in with a comparison Thread

I like the Uly's engine size, but for insurance reasons would like to see something from EBR under 1L. With liquid cooling, power could be the same if not better than the Uly.

I'm not itching for a new ADV or ST bike though.. The Uly still fills both of those rolls quite well.

I want the Uly's little brother. Show me a 500cc+/- single under 300 lbs. Belt drive, low maintenance valvetrain, miles of suspension travel. This bike could cater to trail and motard enthusiasts both with nothing more than different wheels. Put a carburetor on the damn thing to keep it cheap. I don't care, just let me replace this DRZ with something American!

As much as i want EBR to succeed, and so far i think they are kickin' butt, i do not think they will be marketable at Beamer/Ktooms' price points........regardless of performance and features. Mahindra may very well be the World's number one tractor, but here in the States it does not directly compare with the Green machines. In other words all things being equal on a performance and feature level, no way you are getting John Deere money for a red tractor from India.

I can't wait to see what the Elves come up with to replace the Uly, keep the weight down, keep good center of gravity, great suspension, trackable/predictable powerplant (who effin cares about ponies), reliable/low maintenance and the price must be closer to 15k than 20. That's not just my wallet talking, that's what i think the general market will sustain in a growth fasion(IMHO). Remember EB would rather be building "Hondas" than "Ferraris"......

And remember economies of scale.

First bike: 1190RS. Extreme limited production flagship. $43k. Put the company on the podium, and on the radar of investors to the tune of 20M (so far).

Next step: AX/SX/RX. Slightly higher production projections. Much lower price point. Still only the second generation, from effectively a "startup" company. Will put bikes in well-heeled riders' garages, and make "average-budget" riders take notice. And start wishing for a "budget" model they can afford. Increasing the company's radar footprint, showroom traffic, and the demand for the product.

Third generation? Anybody's guess at this point (well, not ANYbody...I'm sure it's all in Erik's head as part of the 100 year plan).
