I have been in a major motorcycle FUNK. Ever since the ax took a swing at me and some of my very best riding buds. Need to get the desire back. I bought a some Buell Viagra... Just picked up a 2010 rear wheel for the Uly and I have scaled WAY back on the amount of MSF/Riders Edge Classes that I will be teaching this year.... Here's to a good year of riding! |

Wolfie... Tell me when and I'll meet you at Pike Forest, pulling a trailer with a KDX-200 (ported to a 225). I'll borrow the neighbors KTM for me to ride with you... you will go more places faster on the KDX, because I'll spend all my time on the KTM puckering and trembling. Or maybe I'll borrow one of the other buddies KDX's so I can keep up with you... Heck, since I'll have the trailer, you can just ride the Buell there. I'll take a day off work. Nothing like a little dirt bike time to re-light that fire. |

Have sick days... will use them to ride! I wish I could have done that on the days I had been sick! Dude! I am feeling ready to ride again also. It seems that since I got that infected spider bite back in September I have been sick with some kind of sinus or flu like symptoms. I am now on my fifth day of NOT taking some form of sinus/allergy pill just to be able to function. It is great to be feeling better! So if I am reading this right I not only need to get the Jeep on the trail, but the XL250 needs to be ready to go also? So if I bring those two and the Uly, should I try to take a week off? Wholly schnikees! I usually cannot get more that three or four day weekends. |

Did somebody say dirt ride? I'm off Thursdays! (Except March 22nd, I'll be Uly-ing down South.) Is this Pike Forest area a State Off-Road area? If so, they're closed till memorial day I believe. Crow Canyon and Happy Valley are two private trail riding areas that are open though. |

I picked Pike Forest because it's close to Columbus. But you are right, Pike Forest is closed for the winter. It's a great beginner place though, nothing too hairy and pretty trails. Never been to Happy Valley, and never heard of Crow Canyon. I suppose I could do Wayne Forest. It's not free ($25 for a day pass? I forget). And it's a pretty long haul for me (3 hours), but it's a place I have only ridden once and would like to ride again. But maybe they are closed over the winter also What about Big Rock (Maysville KY)? That's my normal riding place. That would be about 2:20 from Columbus. $20 for the day, and a FANTASTIC place to ride... something like 2000+ acres, and you ride wherever the heck you want, on trail or off. Tell me about Crow Canyon? Never heard of it. The 29th would probably work for me. |

I've never been to Crow Canyon either, but some of the AdvRiders I ride with frequent the place. Something like 400 acres with a good mix of terrain. They've posted many videos of it on youtube. Happy Valley is small (150 acres), but also has a good mix of terrain. It can get soupy though, and therefor not the best place for dual sport tires (that's me). Only 45 minutes from Columbus, but it's straight East (Springfield, OH), probably a good distance from you. Wayne is closed for the winter. I'm assuming you're not on Dual-Sports correct? I know some good rides that are a mix of small roads, dirt roads, and trails. The 29th could work for me as well. |

Looks like Wayne forest opens on April 15th..

Looks like Big Rock is the closest to all of us... We would all be driving a couple hours. http://bigrockoffroadpark.com/ |

Correct, I'm on pure dirt bikes. I sold the dual sport (KLR-250) after blowing an ACL. Now my dirt bikes are dirt bikes, and my street bikes are street bikes. |

Mark, sorry to say, this thread is in no way going to help you get back on your Uly. It will on the other hand, force you to make another purchase, and take awesome pictures such as these:
And Reep, you're correct, I was thinking Memorial day, but the state areas actually open on tax day. Mine's and Meadow's is another popular private area, but it's way out northeast, I believe just across the PA state line. |
