Great pictures ! I won't ride if there is ice or snow on the ground . Too risky! I wouldn't want to risk a injury that could cause me to never be able to ride again. I'll just wait for better weather to get my bike out again. |

I forget I am spoiled ... it hit 80 degrees F here in south Texas today. I ride pretty much all year long. The downside: no hills, the roads are pretty much straight around here and Mexico is to scary for me right now with all the banditos. |

Also "snowbound"; thinking about rides for 2012. . . Hwy 2 (North Cascades, WA)
St. Joe River Area (Montana / Idaho border area)
Yaak River (NW Montana)

Found a few more of a trip my wife and I tried to take to the coast but my Uly did not want to cooperate. The dreaded failed wheel bearing Dad to the rescue!

How far from home were you when the bearing failed? I see you now have the 2010 wheel setup so maybe you can try that trip to the coast again when the snow melts! Thanks. |

Last August in Montana on the Going to the Sun road in Glacier National park. Note the Ulysses "lollipop" mirrors on my girlfriend's Versys:
Warmer days, indeed...... |

We were about 75 miles from home. I limped the bike to the coast to a gas station. 10mph on the side of hwy 101 so we could get cell service! Went about 8 miles like that! All fixed now with the 2010 wheel and broke it in with a 1700 mile trip. Promised the wife we would try it again in the spring. nate |

I could actually go for a little snow. A little Virginia countryside from October...
And some Maryland in November...
And MD in January...cold, cloudy, bleak, but no snow.

I could see making some kind of home out of that cement silo. That would be quite a conversation starter. Attach a 4 stall garage to the side of it. |

We're supposed to have 20 to 30 below zero wind chills here in southeast MN today and tomorrow. If anyone cares to join me for a ride, I will take this afternoon off so we can go. |

The first time I tried riding a bike on ice/snow I was 17 and thought I could, as you do make it work. I still have the scares to prove it so why, at 50 would I have tried again? Simple. Just plain stupid is all. Get the bus. Simple as Guys. |

Here is one from 2010. This was the first "test ride" on the Trans PA Trail. No this is not a crash, I was using my laptop (gps) to see if there really was a bottom to this dirt hill (without water at the bottom). I now ride one of those bikes that is sitting next to the Uly. For those from PA: find Park Place PA, take tower road north, this is on the way down the hill. don't even take your Uly near here if it's wet 2 seasons later, the Trans PA Trail is still not complete I plan to finish the western 1/2 this summer. |
