My '08 already has a few spots of discoloration...not the blue/gold hue, but spots of darker discoloration. What are you guys doing/using for your pipe care? These pipes are factory coated correct? I want to get these things looking tip top again. The curves of those headers might be my favorite part of the bike! Must have them spotless! (Message edited by cerk26 on August 20, 2011) |

Take your muffler and header to have it ceramic coated then it will look like new and not rust. They do NOT come factory coated. |

Use Scotchbrite and Mother's Wheel polish. Works best to go around the tube rather than along it though it's more work. That produces a clean stainless matte finish, better looking in my opinion than the mirror finish some prefer. |

I have used Simi Chrome polish. Work it in with your fingers, then tear strips of an old towel into 2" widths, wrap the strips all around the pipe and then work them back and forth. You can get up pretty close at both ends like that. Then go over it again with clean strips. |

Header Pipes. The exhaust can I've got figured...I've got black header paint I'll use to touch that up. I read somewhere here on the board that the Ulys came with a factory coat. It sure as shit doesn't look that way, but figured I'd ask before I tackle any polish projects. Ok, so scotch brite + Elbow Grease and mothers/Eagle One. Have you guys tried that eagle one product mentioned pretty frequently here? Honestly I also prefer the matte finish but that stuff looked pretty good. (Message edited by cerk26 on August 19, 2011) |

I wrapped mine. I like the look...and it reduced heat on my right leg. |

Ditto on just ride. No matter how you clean or polish it's going to turn what ever color it wants. Look at the first 3~4" from the head at night in a dark area... |

It's not the color, I actually like the blueing...it's the corrosion looking splotches of discoloration that bother me. Looks like shit on such a good looking pipe. I got this: ...and some scotch brite rubbing pads. Will go to work this evening/tomorrow morning. |

Wow. I'm staggered at the difference a little elbow grease and an hour of time made. I just bought the Uly here in the summer, and certainly the last owner never gave the headers a once over. They look like new!! I'm really happy with the results. Thanks guys.
