I power washed my Ulysses today and the power washer tore up the surface of the beak fender. I was using the medium power nozzle and never had problems on anything else. Now the surface of the fender is peeling. It's like the top layer of the fender is coming off. It hasn't been painted or anything, it's bare plastic. I'll have to take a picture of it because it's really strange to me. Has anyone else had their beak fender "peel" on them? Does anyone know what a replacement one runs at the dealer? |

Power wash & Uly should not be used in the same sentence. |

Can't you just sand it a little? |

Don't feel bad. I did exactly the same thing at the car wash. I don't see any way of repairing it and if I remember correctly the beak was expensive enough that I decided to live with it. |

This isn't really an answer to your question, but rather a solution. I painted mine with dupli colors bumper coating a long time ago. It has held up very well. I meant for it to be temporary until I bought a black beak, but I have no reason to replace it now. They sell it on black a a few shades of gray- I would imagine one of the greys would work well. |

I never liked the beak. I bought an extra cause I intend to paint it to match the bike someday. It cost about $70 if I recall. I even bought an Acerbis front fender, red, but didn't like the fitment on the Uly. What someone needs to do is get their hands on one of those new 3D instant manufacturing devices(can't recall it's technical name) that you could design the perfect fender, one that is more rounded, less pointy, sort of matches the lower fender and maybe even matches the color of the other plastic on the bike. As I understand it, you design the fender in a CAD like software program, then send it to this machine that will mill it right from a block of plastic. Anyone else seen one of these? |

Your beak is chapping? That reminds me of a bad joke: A duck walks into the pharmacy to buy some Chap-Stick. He takes it up front to pay for it and the cashier says "Will that be cash?". To which the duck replies "No, just put it on my bill......" Sorry guys, I couldn't help myself. |

Here is a pic of my fender now. http://i.imgur.com/8WrvC.jpg I ran by the dealer today and a new fender is $70 bucks. I think I'll just clean mine up and get a can of truck bed liner for it. I wish I still had access to a PVC rapid prototyping machine and ATOS scanners. Then I could just have a new one made. By the way, I saw a nice Ulysses in the parking lot of the dealer today. It was black and the frame and swing arm were textured black to match the engine. I've never seen a Ulysses like this before; did they come from the factory with a textured black frame? It also had Buell decals with the compass rose on them. It looked sharp. I'd like a set of those decals for my plain white air box. |
