I did it and the leak is gone. Took maybe 5 or 6 hours to service both forks. No special tools used (ratchet strap to compress, bike's triple tree used as clamp) but no hassles either... just a lot of steps to take... lot's of rags required to deal with oily mess. Keep track of parts as you disassemble (photograph perhaps) as my 2006 service manual diagram was not quite right! I drew in the corrections :-) I worried at first because the forks seemed to leak initially but after cleaning up a little residue - no more leaking.
