I rotated my engine to install my ceramic coated header from American Sport Bike. The front nuts were tight. On the rear, the back nut was just finger tight, ready to come off. The other was not as loose, but not tight. Maybe due to my Drummer, but I really never heard the exhaust leak ---Bob

Well it's lucky you went in there then Remember to beat on everything with the heel of your hand before you torque stuff down to settle it in. (At least that works on a tuber) |

Same deal on XB. Get it all finger-tight but still wiggle-able. Start torquing at the rear head. Then front head. Then collector hangar. Then collector/muffler clamp. Then front muffler hangar. Then rear. Every time you torque one, give the rest a smack to "center" it so there aren't any binds or side-loads. For a quick check, I always, once I torque something, put a dot of touchup paint on the fastener and on the part, lined up. That way I can tell at a glance if things like caliper bolts, axle pinch bolts...or header nuts are coming loose. It's also fun explaining to people what all those little Molten Orange dots are all over the bike |
