Am I the only one that has this happening? There is a spot where my boots/pants touch the engine cover, close to the back of it. Has anyone found something to protect it? Transparent adhesive maybe? |

You need to start riding barefoot and in shorts. |

Do a search for Helicopter tape. Use it on my mountain bike, it's very sticky and very tough. |

Found it! It's called "leading edge tape" it's made from 3M and it's to protect helicopter blades. It's clear and extremely resistant. Nice tip! |

Your bike is way too clean. I chipped some of the mud off mine to try and see what you're talking about.. still can't spot it. |

You say that like it's a bad thing, I think it adds character. |

I have a long term goal with my 2008: I want to wear the paint off of the frame where my knees rub. It's already shiny. I'm thinking the paint is somewhat thick though. |

The frame is powdercoated. Good luck. I also keep a layer of grime on my Ulysses, to protect it from pesky wear and tear marks |

All things to all men. Have it as you like it. I never clean mine. Any clear stick on stuff will help wear patches though. I have found the finish is as good as any modern bike and better, in some respects, than even the mighty BMW GS1200. The only problem I have found is cleaning brake dust off the wheels. The design can make them hard to clean if it builds up to much. Its not much of a problem though. I am just lazy. (Message edited by uly_man on May 06, 2011) |

That ain't lazy, that is the proper conservation of energy. I have just so much energy in a given day, it has to be used in a manner to achieve the most good. It don't do me any good to wash my bike everyday, it will just get dirty again tomorrow. |
