I just replaced my belt with a brand new one. Now, with the bike still on the stand the rear wheel seems reluctant to turn. It turns, but not very easily.

Is this just a product of the new, tighter belt? I'm pretty sure, but just want to confirm.

Yea, they're definitely tighter when new. There's actually a coating on the teeth that gets burnished into the surface as it runs; I imagine that's got something to do with it loosening up somewhat after a few miles.

Did you over-torque the axle? Mine turned fine, no difference felt, with a new belt fitted.

Nope, didn't over-torque the axle. Used my brand new torque wrench to get it spot on.

I'm thinking (and I think i read somewhere) that having it jacked up puts the most tension on the belt, making it tighter than it would be if it was on the ground.

It will be more stubborn till it loosens up. You are correct about additional tension when its off the ground.

Send me the old belt and I will properly dispose of it for you. Let me know how much shipping is.

The old belt will be kept in a safe place on my bike as an insurance policy.

Thanks for the offer though!
