Has anybody done the TAT on a Uly out there? Was just looking at some pics on a site and looks amazing but a couple pics looked kind of iffy on a big bike. |

I have followed at least one guys thread over on ADV rider who did it on a Uly. I have never done it, but I think a Uly would be a hand full once you hit the Rockies. |

Did about 1000 mi. of the TAT last June. Plan on doing another 1000 this coming June. My plan is to go as far as I can with the Ulysses. So far the Buell has been great. I don't trailer so riding to and from the TAT is only comfortable on a hand full of bikes. I believe the Buell will go anywhere a BMW 1200 GS will go and be a lot more fun. I also did the TWAT last June with 2 other guys as a trial run for the TAT. The other two bikes were a 900 KTM and a DR650. Both bikes were great except for the ride up and back. Both of the other guys cancelled out of the TAT after the trial run. I believe that says a lot about the Buell. |

Other than the mud the hardest part of their trip was from Cimarron pass to Ouray. I rode from Ouray to Lake City over Engineer pass. The roads over the two passes merge into the single road to Ouray. That is one tough road. Lots of large rocks but the Uly did well as long as I could keep the speed up. Following Jeeps is a pita!!

Pretty awesome. How'd the ULY perform at those elevations? |

Over 10,000 it had no power below 3000 rpm. I had to clutch it like a 2 stroke to get it around the hairpins. I have since installed the XB9 primary and am looking forward to trying this again! I think the cams close really late so low end suffers greatly at elevation. If I were to ride off road a lot more a cam change would help a lot. I hope the lower gearing will make it easier to keep it above 3000 rpm. The suspension and handling off road was great, just keep your speed up. |

Having done the XB9 change and live/ride at altitude, you will love the conversion. I rarely have to fart with the clutch, even at a little over 2k rpms when things get a bit hairy. |

Good to hear! I felt so sorry for my clutch, I really abused it. I could hear it wimpering!!! |
