Hi All.

Just thought I run a little survey regarding those of you that have the skip sparking problem and what mods you have on.

1. After market exhaust,
2. Breather reroute,
3. High flow air filter,
4. Race ECM,
5. None,

If you are having the skip spark problem which number mods do you have?

I have none. Your problem does not sound like that of the Flashing Light/ Run / Skip at temperatures over 70 degrees at over 70 MPH like we have experienced.

Yours sounds more like a grounded plug wire that caused a fouled plug making one cylinder miss until it was run long enough to make the CEL come on.

Not at all like the problem we have had.

Yup mine seems all fixed-up! thank god.

But the S/S problem still intrigues me so I am just trying to get some more info to see what we can see.

There are many many threads starting about two and a half years ago.

Misfire isn't FL/R/S Matt, but we're all learning here. That said I'm glad you solved your misfire issue and are rolling along.

FL/R/S is what happens when the ECM decides (for whatever reason it seems, that is the crux) to alternate spark cycles to the plugs because it perceives an overheated engine condition. This allows cooler intake charges to cycle through the cylinders instead of combusting, your idiot light comes on, flashes repeatedly, and you start getting passed by angry old ladies in Corollas until the engine cools enough to allow full functioning again.

Problem for a lot of us is that the engine doesn't seem to be getting hot at all, at least in my case the issue went away with a new ETS, until recently. Etennuly solved his with a switchable fan, I (think) I fixed mine (again) a few days ago and was out testing it (read that: flogging it) again today. No idiot lights nor FL/R/S for three days now guys, in temps 85-90.

I was stoked, until it flat died on me today on an overpass. First time actually stranded in 72K and four years, it came home on a ramp truck. And I was gonna post when I got back how great it was running...

X -

My condolences -- mine has been sitting in the garage for a few months now. I did the Etennuly switch mod, which fixed that problem, but I have an intermittent miss that gets worse until it flat dies. Might re-fire - might not situation.

I now have a new Erik Buell Racing ECM waiting to go on, once I hook up with someone here in town that has the equipment to do the TPS reset, but I've been too busy with work to meet up.

Good luck.

Mine is still doing superbly with the switch mod. The only problem I have faced is twice I left the fan on when I walked away with my helmet and MP3 player still on.

My switch has a light in it, but I did not hook that up to function when I did the switch and just have not readdressed it yet.

I am pondering putting it back to ECM control once the mean temperatures drop below 70F where it never had a problem.

hmm... well my bike has been working great... but it has been unusually cold these last couple of weeks... around 15C or ~60F.

My skipping problems were coming back from Labrador when it hit 33C or ~91F.

hope this was only a coincidence.
