I had what was a minor accident with my uly about 2 months ago. Visible damage was a chip taken out of the cast part around the gauge cluster, ignition key and I guess it runs around the forks. While changing the bulbs in the past few days, I noticed that I had a HUGE crack that had split about one inch at the top and settled down to about 1 mm at the bottom. What are the chances...ha ha... that I am going to find a replacement for that. I spoke with a fried who does all sorts of welding for a living and he told me that it can not be welded as it is a pressed part and it will flake apart. Any suggestions on where to look for something like this? I am not even looking new, just no major damage like mine. Even the appropriate name for the part would help so I can search the internet to see if anything exists. For the time being, I wanna ride I wanna ride I wanna ride so that will be what I am going to do. But I suppose one of these days it is going to fail on me and if I can have one around to replace it that would be cool.
TIA

Pics would help, but I'm assuming you're talking about the fairing center support (at the top, above the instruments) and the left module (bolts to the frame and surrounds the key, holds the left turn signal assembly). Parts numbers according to my 2006 OFC:

L0942.1AKYBP, FAIRING SUPPORT, center (graphite grey)

L0940.1AKYBP, FRONT MODULE, left (graphite grey)

If you need one, the right side is:

L0941.1AKYBP, FRONT MODULE, right (graphite grey)

I saw an 09 XT on ebay being parted out. Might check there. It was up yesterday.

Thanks to both of you.

Xbimmer you are correct in the description in the part. Did not know it came in two parts. That is nice as I only need the left.

Itile good to check prices as who knows if HD will even support the part, and I am sure the price difference will be significant.

Again thanks!
