Last Saturday Evening I was riding my Uly just west of Littleton, Colorado in the Mountains. As I was descending the mountains and riding the twisties, I rounded a right hand curve and as I began to roll off the throttle and begin entering the left curve. Instantly here comes this silver Honda way to fast, I could see that the driver was in my lane, I then adjusted the bike putting it on the small shoulder, the car missed me and continued on its way, I nudged the bike onto the pavement but was carrying to much speed. I started my turn and pressed the rear brakes slightly. I thought that I was in the clear until I hit the gravel that was laying on the asphalt. Me and the bike slid off the road and hit a huge rut, washing out on the left side. This rut was filled with small, insidious sharp as *%@* gravel and large granite stones. I jumped up and looked myself over. My jeans were ripped and my knee was hamburger. I had a slight cut on my wrist from the jacket pulling away from the gloves. But overall, I was fine. I righted the bike while in the rut, another driver stopped and helped me get the bike on the road. Now the bad news: I tore off the Frame Puck, scratched the frame and put a little dent in it; The front fender was severely damaged; The left side scoop was also damaged as was the oil cool scoop and I bent the oil cooler a little. The gear shift knob survived but the part that the linkage that bolts on to shift knob was broken. It was stuck in 3rd gear, and it took me awhile to get the Uly home. Since I'm going to be looking for some of those plastic parts and the gear bolt, I need to know if I should go to the Local HD dealership or order those parts on-line? Any suggestions?

Anywhere you go they will, most likely, have to order the parts.
Three words: American Sport Bike.

Events like this almost make it mandatory to carry something like http://vi.ebaydesc.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIte mDescV4&item=260618133234&t=1275362110000&ds=0&js= -1&ssid=15&seller=shoppingfromeast&category=48632& bv=msie&caz.html
Glad to hear your OK, though your ride is a bit worse for wear.

Holy Smokes buddy, that's a little too close for comfort! Glad you're okay. I do believe you leap frogged ahead of me on this one. Sounds like American Sport Bike will know you by first name if you keep this up. Remember, these bikes are for riding, not wrecking!

Thanks all, The knee is fine, just crusty from the scab and hard to bend (each time i bend it too much, the scab cracks and the bleeding begins). Shoulder is a little sore from having my 275 pound, 50 year old body slam into the asphalt. Other than the bike, all is OK. I've checked the American Sport Bike website and see that the frame pucks are discontinued..... As for the other parts, most look like the carbon fiber variety and $$$$$. I will probably go up to Fredrick, CO and visit dave and see if they have any parts that I need available.
