All XB' should have the same starter? does anyone have the HD or Buell PN for the starter? I had my solinoid short out, and it is not repairable, I want to see my options when it comes to the $325 that HD wants for one.
Thanks

All air cooled models dating back as far as I know use the same starter, and it is $375.

Yours isn't repairable?
Did it burn or something?

I tried to start the bike, and it kept tripping the circuit breaker. I checked the ingition wire to the starter, and it had .9 ohms to ground. I disassembled the starter, and the rotor and brushes are OK. but the solinoid field has shorted some where. If I could get away with replacing the solinoid, I would. But the way solinoid and the starter are put together, if you replace the solinoid you might as well replace the whole starter.
I found some starters on E-bay for sporty's and Buells up to 2004, but I dont know if they will work for a 2007.

It is a HD part number, I don't know for sure what HD model it came off of, but it probably is the Sportster.

The starters on E-bay are new 1.4kw starters for $94.95 they replace a 31390-91
31390-91A and 31390-91B
THe only difference that I can see is the Post on the starter that is not on my starter
e-bay starter

Maybe I havenīt understand it correctly, but there is a STARTER SOLENOID REPAIR KIT 31603-91 on page 28 item 21 of Uly 2006 parts book. Retail Price:$56.70.

Or SWITCH ASSEMBLY, MAGNETIC (XLīS) 31537-98 item 17 on same page. Retail Price:$70.00.

Thanks
I will have to look into the solinoid repair kit, to see what it includes. The field winding assembly is tab swaged into the housing. But if the kiy includes the field winding. then it's a go.
