I have been researching the comfort kit for my 2006 Uly since several members recommended it. It seems that a fuel map was a key component of the upgrade, which of course would not be compatible with my '06.

So I am curious if any of you '06 and '07 owners have installed the RSS and whether or not it actually helps the motor run cooler. I took my Uly on a very spirited run last weekend. Hard to tell with the ear plugs, but I am pretty sure the fan was running almost full time, even just on the highway. The weather was cool, below 70 degrees for most of the morning.

That worries me a bit, and the motor was putting off quite a bit more heat than I expected. Is this normal for a Buell? The heat doesn't make me uncomfortable, but I don't want her to melt down!

The kit is a very nice addition to my '07. I am now able to ride a full tank with out stopping to cool the seat and fan run time is reduced. Worth every penny I paid for it. All components should be installed to make full use of it though. I ran the RSS only and it helps but with the addition of the deflector over the shock, heat is a distant memory.

I can vouch for the effectiveness of the comfort kit. I installed all components on my 2007 Uly in September and it has done the following-

1. The r/h side frame is now warm, not hot.
2. No engine heat blown to my right leg.
3. Fuel no longer vents from the overflow tube.
4. Fan runs only at engine shutoff.

Note that this in in fall weather conditions. I have no idea how it will work during hot summer months here in Texas.

+100.

I have an '06. Full kit installed, 90* stop and go temps, very little fan use. Frame cooler, very nicely done. Worth every penny.

I just called my dealer the cc I ordered last week is there.

Won't need it this weekend for my ride down to East Troy but want it for next summer.

Not worried about hard parts we'll need but assy's may dry up soon.

07 Uly with Comfort Kit. For me what seems to have made the biggest difference in comfort is the under-seat fan duct. My seat would get boiling hot on long rides, especially in hot weather. MAJOR improvement with Comfort Kit installed.

I have installed just the official buell RSS on my 2006 ULY. None of that other comfort kit stuff. Before installing the RSS the fan would come on a couple of miles into every ride and almost never shut off. This was even on very cool days and nights. The fan basically was screaming all the time. Now it only comes on occasionally and even then usually shuts off on its own. I am SOOOOO pleased with it.

Sounds like an addition I should make. The engine heat wasn't affecting me much. I am more concerned for the well being of the engine.

It was the first time I've really flogged the bike in the twisties and taken it on an extended highway run (80mph sustained). It seemed to be running a good bit hotter than even an air-cooled engine should.

I am in Houston, TX now, and this past summer was brutal. Can't imagine running the Uly in that kind of ambient heat. I'll probably get the kit for peace of mind if nothing else, but it seems from your experiences that the kit is virtuous indeed.

Thanks, guys!

Just rode home in 55 degree rain. 20 minute ride, fan didn't even come on at shutdown. This kit keeps the engine COOL : )

Get the kit, its a great addition. FWIW, the download is NOT a new fuel map, but rather new instructions to the fan-what speed/temp to cycle on or off, etc. My 09 has the kit and NO reflash, and it's the bees knees.
