How do you like my tire changing set up?

sawhorse

I've got a floor jack and tie-downs, but I went with this instead. Anybody got an easier way?

Yes, I use a pit bull stand, it goes on and off in seconds, oh and I can still move the bike should the need arise. Not to mention your setup looks prime to decapitate you when you put the wheel back on : )

I just use whatever I find on the side of the road!

Or if I happen to be at home I use a small ATV type jack with a wooden cut out the shape of my muffler. Sorry no pics of it but I'm sure if you do a search it will turn up something like it. There have been multiple threads on it.

Hmartin, couldn't you hang that bar from the ceiling so the saw horses wouldn't be in your way? Just a thought.

I used a tie down strap and using the roof wood beam (my dad and me made a 2 car garage out of wood) so i passed it around the 2 grab bars and lifted it, the front end i did the same with the handle bar and the whole bike in the air.

I just put a floor jack under the back of the muffler with the bike on the sidestand. It only has to be lifted until the tire doesn't touch the floor.

I just lean it over on the sidestand and kick a block of wood under it.
Mucho easy and free of cost.

You bet - "free" is the operative word. I like "easy", too.

At times I wish my garage weren't dry walled. That would make hanging stuff from the ceiling much less of a pain.

I've actually had this for a while. My son wanted a woodworking project last year, so I helped him cut and cope the bearing pads and hammer the nails. The resulting "stand" is surprisingly stable, which I needed at the time because the dealer or somebody had overtightened the axle. I had to whale on it pretty hard and like to never got it off (anti-seize, please). Much easier this time.

Orange bearings are still working well - I think I'll keep them through this change. I've got my fingers crossed.

Update: Chickened out. Didn't keep the orange bearings after all.

As cheap as the new bearings are, seems to me that a change now would be wise. Now that is myself talking to myself. I changed out my tire early this spring, and then got the bearings (black ones). Wish I had held of on the tire for a week or two but I waa down to the steel belts. I now have new bearings on the table awaiting for indications of a failure or need for a tire change, or three days of rain.

My 07 is in the same shape right now, awaiting a fresh skin on the rear! I made a muffler cradle as listed here, bought a Craftsman bike jack.

Use whatever you can to get the job done!!

How do you keep the Pit Bull stand from sliding up the swingarm? What types of ends do you use? I have two stands with the SS ends. It would be nice if I could confidently use one.

Umm I didn't so anything. I bought them from American Sport Bike. No sliding or modifying anything. I just use them. I will have to take a picture or something.

I have an eye hook in my garage ceiling and some ratchet straps.

A barn with a chain hoist will do in a pinch when you find your tire showing cords in the middle of a long trip. : )

My pitbull flat out sucks on the Uly, the swingarm angle is jacked and the genius who welded the stoppers welded them backwards so the bike slides right off the stand.

Some cheap cabinet liner wrapped around the round metal pins with the red rubber pieces removed works better, but still no jem.

I still love the pitbull stand though, great tool just no so great on the Uly.

Froggy, you got SS suspension right?
