So wait a second. If I had the dealer install new bearings and didn't specific which ones, did I get the OEM faulty ones? Or have the OEMs improved?

I'm asking because I just paid $230 to have the rears replaced for preventative maint.

Sept. 08 was right around the time the new bearings came out. You probably got one of the last bikes with the old bearings.

Keep in mind that some bikes with the old type bearings have run 30k+ miles without problems. I'd keep an eye on them and change them at the next tire change.

What was the price per bearing? The new ones are significantly cheaper, I want to say half price. Old bearings were something like $40 each, new ones were less than 20 IIRC.

I'm thinking I got a set of the new rear bearings for about $30 + shipping... with the BadWeb discount.
