Chad, Thank you SO much for being my "technical advisor" as I dove into my clutch job. I feel like I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but I always fear screwing something up and making a small easy job into a large expensive one. My dad is a great guy but is NOT mechanically inclined. Any skills I have developed have been via trial and error. I don't think the clutch job could have gone any smoother. The results are fantastic. The bike ran better than ever! I feel more confident to do more on an XB platform than I ever thought possible. More importantly, I have gained a new skill (set of skills) thanks to a friend who was willing to give up some of his time on a Saturday to make sure I didn't screw the pooch. Thank you Chad for being my friend! |

I'm confused.... I thought you sold the Uly...??? you posted pic's of buyer and everything and now I see a post about him now coming to get it from you after FL.... (and then you bash West TN.... not that I can argue but ... well ... no feeling hurt....) and now a clutch job..... and I think it is on the Uly... what the heck??? (though I mean no to distract from the Chad praise....) CHAD RULES........GO Chad,,,,, |

I DID sell the Uly, but being the anal retentive that I am, I couldn't let the new buyer leave without a bike in tip top shape (I even changed the oil and filled the tank!) I replaced the clutch and strapped on a new tire for the new owner. He will have 10 days in Georgia with a bike that is ready to roll at peak performance. Methed comes for the bike next Saturday. Then......she's gone. |

Ft_bstrd , you are truly honorable. I also will not sell a piece of used equipment unless it is in perfect condition for the buyer. |

I second Ironheads thoughts... very honorable... the wife and I cleaned our last house after selling it, after we moved out... like you had to when you rent in order to get your deposit back... the relator for the buyer at closing flat out told the buyer that that never happens... and smiled across the table at my wife and I ..... FT_B ... stand up fellow... but after reading the clutch change review it sounds like you might be leaning toward a SS not a CR... huh.... maybe a SS with clubmans.... Has that been done yet???? again sorry Ft_B.... GOOOOOOO CHAD.... really he does sound like a awesome guy even before this.... honest.. |

The XB platform is just SO satisfying as a platform. Chad and I talked about it Saturday. He hates the Thunderstorm engine. I REALLY like it. I rode for about an hour making sure that the clutch was working right. It was just SO great. The bike was just perfect and satisfying. The XB platform is like a 1978 Trans Am. It isn't refined. It isn't modern. It's just fantastic. It's even the right color. (Message edited by ft_bstrd on March 30, 2009) |

Now, now, now....I don't HATE the air cooler. It's a good engine for what it is. Amazing actually. Only Ducati has an air cooled 2V engine that is superior, and the XB is FAR easier to work on than a Ducati engine (except for the clutch change). I like the torque of the XB motor, and I like the rev range of my 600. I'd like to have something in between. Nice torque, with some more rev range. The 1125 is near perfect. Fatty, thanks for the credit, but I wasn't feeling like my jovial self on Saturday being a bit under the weather. I didn't do much besides spoon on a tire and pop a snap ring in place. I'm looking forward to flogging whatever bike you end up buying. I've had the Uly for three and a half years now....it's time for some "strange". I'm thinking that for a street bike, the XB Uly is pretty good. Maybe I should sell the 600 and try to pick up a nice used 1125R. Maybe Danny Eslick will sell his after the season is over. LOL! |

I think for you, a used 1125R would be just perfect. Sell the 600. Keep the Uly. I think I have decided to pick up an SS and keep it as my "Ducati" and pick up a CR in a year or two. |

I honestly love the Uly. Every time I ride the bike, I love it. Sure, more power would be nice. There are times when I'm chasing Lewis on that darn MV Agusta and he just pulls me like I'm not moving. When he slows down under 100, I can catch him. LOL! The 1125R is an awesome track bike. Maybe in a year or two, I can find one that's been a garage queen for cheap (cheap for a track bike is about $3000-$4000). Maybe Tom will sell me his after he's ragged it out. LOL! |

Tom's going to race WERA and endurance with his. You'll get a right nice, race prepped R in a year or so. |

Good one Chad! The Ft_b needs all the help he can get! Hope to see you both out there this summer. A ride down 116 perhaps? |

I'm glad it went smoothly. Sorry that I could not wait to do mine. When you get another scoot we all need to do another EPIC ride to East, TN. Lately the 25R has been calling my name. I have been sniffing around for a deal on a used 08 25r, but now my wife thinks the CR is "cuter". . Now I will have to wait for a used CR. Maybe, I will lay a golden egg and get a Duc 1198s or the 2010 Buell 1200R. |

Chad, Thanks for the very nice top case. It fits perfect! Imagine that. Now my Uly is inching ever closer to perfection. Next up. New tires of some sort other than 616s. |
