I put a comment in straightening them out.

Change the brake pads and put on the high bars and their nits with the Buell are fixed.

So, what can you do to cure the handling ills of the long wheelbase Euro pig?

Pig? I dunno. I test rode a K1200R. That bike is scary fast.

Well...the Space Shuttle is scary fast, but I don't think I'd want to try to complete a lap around Barber with it.

Fast is easy. Big engine=fast.

Nimble is another.

I'd rather have a really nimble bike that only does 80 than a long wheelbased heavy pig that does 180.

Well, you know my feeling about looks.

I could care less. Function over form is what I want.

I never care what a bike looks like. You could paint it chartreuse with pink polka dots and as long as it works well, I'm a happy guy.

I don't know...I'd love to ride that BMW, and want to be convinced that they can build a superfast bike (I rode a K1200GT through Colorado for four days and never found it shockingly fast - though I did set my personal speed record on it with no problem) the front fork lowers on that BMW look like they don't work. They don't even look sporty, fast, or architecturally realistic. The Uly - like most Buells - is a gnarly beast, but it seems to look like what it's supposed to do.

The BMW's rear 2/3 looks like it's meant to really haul, the headlight looks like it's supposed to SCUBA dive in Barbados, and the front end looks like it's meant to prance gaily in the air like a Lipizzaner stallion, perhaps while batting a beach ball.

Ugly is usually good, but it should at least look functionally CORRECT. Otherwise it just upsets the stomach when you look at it.

To me, the K1300R is the only bike BETTER looking than the 1125CR. Das is der Uberbadass.

While the article appears to be a non-bias comparison—The author is BMW all the way. The caption in the first picture demonstrates this from the start- Who says the BMW “looks more aggressive..”? Then he ranks on Buell’s brakes- because he can’t figure out how to use them properly (before flip-flopping a paragraph later). While he mentions the “pleasant” Buell engine- he gives all the credit to Rotax… Didn’t Rotax build it to Buell’s exact specifications? He gets in right in the end though- this comparison isn’t going to help anyone make up their mind. Anyone one in the market for either has already made up their mind.. its left or right… blue or red…But this guys seems a little closer to the left- so he’s voting BMW.

Dentguy- you might have noticed different bikes have a different brake feel. I think the Buell design works very well- including the CR which I've tried. The point I was trying to make was that the author was inconsistent.

Everyone that doesn't understand or get Buells works so hard to find something wrong with them.

Buell needs to change the OEM brake pads. The stock pads are the central problem to the vast majority of the reviews.

The initial bite on the stock pads is awful but once it does clamp down the stopping force is strong. I believe most of the complaints are due to lack of modulation rather than a real dump on the ZTL2 system.

I have never, since adding the new pads, felt like I was going to overshoot a brake point at a track or on the road.

I did with the stock pads because if you grabbed a handful you'd get a delayed "overbrake" that was spooky. In order to prevent this, you would utilize too light an initial grab and then you'd get an "underbrake" when you really needed it. You simply couldnt' modulate your brake force properly.

Buell must have gotten one hell of a deal on brake pads and has 15 warehouses full. I can't imagine any other reason to keep using the same crappy brake pads when there are significantly better replacement options available.

Errr, I don't even see a remote need to have made such a comparo. Other than sackless Beemerweenies needing to try and push das Buellers out of the HUGE Euro segment Erik and the folks from East Troy have pulled in. However, he does say the Buell wins in the handling Dept..
