My bike sometimes stalls out, or almost does unless i give it a little throttle. The check eng. light comes on but goes away. This happened to me on the highway today, i was about to accelerate to pass when it bogged down hard until i eased on the throttle. 08, >3000miles |

check the ground points behind the fuse box. you must remove them, scrape the paint off underneath and re-install them.. after doing this mine became a different bike. all those "strange little hiccups, burbs, and farts" vanished! |

Mine stumbled like that when new. The dealer reprogrammed the ECU and made it better. Yours is under warranty. You should bring it in an tell them to plug it in to their computer. This is why people buy new things. |

#1 on going to the dealer for warrantee the dealer should do this fix so it is documented for future diagnostics. p.s. I remember now shutting down on the freeway for a momeent or two for no apparent reason, then the check engine light, this is how all my troubles began. See the thread titled ECM taking a dump? Thanks for all the suggestions, it'll help when i take it to the dealer so i can point them in a possible direction. They dont always have someone there who speaks english so its a little more challenging, but they have alway given me great service. |

Correct me if Im wrong. My service manual is lent out,so Im going off memory, IGN on. Kill on. Open throttle fully, hold 1 sec. Manually roll throttle off,Hold 1 sec. REPEAT for 3 full cycles. Turn ign off for at least 10 sec. Hope this helps |

Unless I missed something, the Uly 2008 cannot use the double platinum plugs as it takes a different plug to pre-08. Most of the "Uly" plugs you can buy are not suitable for the 2008 Uly |

Spark Plug 10R12X 27794-08 $4.95 You are correct, the '08 takes a different plug STOCK As I understand it the difference is the"A" in 10R12A is conventional electrode, the "X" in 10R12X is Fine Electrode. The "APP" in 10R12APP is conventional electrode,Double Platinum Hope this Helps http://www.championsparkplugs.com/sparkplug411_man ufacturer.asp?manufacturerID=2 |

OK let's please try and remember 08 and beyond have DDFI-3 with No TPS Reset. Also there are several different minor idle and off idle issues depending if the bike has an early or later ECM. A word of Caution here though, if you have a early bike and one of the above mentioned running issues and have it re-flashed you or no one else can re-tune it using ECM Spy so be aware. We have re-tuned a few so far and were able to correct any of these issues we found. Also on the 10R12X plugs, while the insulator looks a little different they in fact are the same heat range as the 10R12A. According to the information from H_D/Buell the new plug helps to prevent fouling caused when the bike has been started several times without ever coming up to operating temperature. (Very common problem in the sales department.) Hope this helps. ... Terry JT&S Performance} |

There is a TPS reset on the '08 bikes. Unlike the pre '08 models once set it shouldn't change unless you change an actual component. So once set properly it should not need to be reset. The AFV should still be checked and zero'd occasionally. As written on page 4-8 of the 2008 Buell XB service manual Part# 99490-08YA "The throttle position sensor zero procedure should be performed IF the TPS,ECM are replaced or the ECM has been recalibrated" The procedure is noted as well. |

I technically stand corrected, but was getting at the old school idea that if there is anything not right just reset the TPS and AFV. and while that sometimes helped the older models it does little to correct most of what is going on inside the ECM on a 80/09 bike with DDFI-3. If a bike still under warranty gets in and out of a dealership and still has the problem. it's a pretty safe bet the TPS has been re-calibrated. Another word of caution one should read the AFV and if outside of the acceptable limits try and find the cause. A well maintained bike can have a AFV that has corrected it's self to what it desires and can be running fine. If reset it will again start trying to correct it's self and may run rough until it does. ... Hope this helps. ... Terry JT&S Performance |

Ok,I've got the bike back. It was the ground connection next to the battery. They replaced a relay as well. Its a little hard for me to understand what exactly they did due to a language barrier. But it fires right up, better than before with no hesitation. Thanks for all the help full replies and it would appear that some of you hit the nail on the head. Buell should probably address this. |
