I'm looking for advice on brand/models and mounting ideas. I'd like to figure out a remote (behind the front cowl) arrangement. Any suggestions?

I used to use a Beltronics RX65 "Professional Series" (whatever THAT means), which had good display brightness and volume settings so the alerts were always noticeable. That worked pretty well until one VERY cold day (32-33 degrees) when it just stopped detecting RADAR. It LOOKED like it worked, but just wouldn't detect anything anymore, not even fast food restaurants! (I need to call the manufacturer.) I wonder if the serious Uly vibrations at low RPMs and idle shook something loose inside it. Sometimes I really worried about the poor thing shaking away.

Anyway, it sat on a TechMounts stalk on the left side of the handlebars with a Velcroed platform, and looked to the side of my Buell tall windshield (not through it). I found that the plug would eventually vibrate its way out of the outlet, so I needed to use tape to keep it in there.

I never got any tickets while using it - got two while NOT using it.

I know DrGreg has an interesting mount above the left front turn signal (or light mount?).

Let us know what you end up with!

I used one on by harley, with great success. It saved me a ticket more than once. I would recommend that you try to find one that has a earbud jack, as the warning tone is hard to hear at certain times.

I use an Escort, Passport 8500. Mounted with a techmount to right side bar. I like it because it has the earbud outlet which I run through a splitter so I can use my xm radio, gps, or whatever simultaniously with the rd set to override any other input. It also has a voltage read out so I know what is going on with the charging system. When my voltage Regulator went out, the radar detector gave a warning tone and a display that said - low voltage. I had a valantine, and a friend I ride with still uses his. My Passport gives off a warning as soon as his valantine. The only thing I liked about the Valantine was the directional component that would show the direction that the signal is coming from. the shortcomings for me of the Valanite is lack of digital voltage readout and for ear bud or audio in helmet an accessorie plug needed to be purchased from valantine. Also the Valantine was much more expensive, I had my valantine stolen from my auto and after the deducatble I could replace it with the Passport wothout additional money.

Valentine # 1 Mounted in Safe Speeding Box on top of RAM Plate Mount.

Plugs into Powerlet "cigar lighter" plug.

Works like a charm.

Loud enough to hear at Highway speed with ear plugs.

Ride Em

I don't have one... Dutch police can execute on the spot when they find one in/on your vehicle.

Okay, not executed but it's a severe financial kick in the butt.
