http://www.2wf.com/content/view/911/44/ http://www.2wf.com/content/view/934/44/ http://www.2wf.com/content/view/959/44/ These are reports I had published at 2wf.com about the TAT. The maps and roll charts are great..but skip TN as most is asphalt. We did it in sections, and I rode Mississipi, Arkansas, OK, NM, CO, and UT...didn't finish, due to time...but what a ride. |

Just got the Touratech AM-Mex ride from SEattle down to Mexico, all on dirt surface roads... might join in nice into the trails into Oregon. |

My buddy and his significant other just completed 2000+ miles of the "trail" on a pair of DR-Z's. Their bikes are in storage until they can pick up where they left off. Very extensive ride report on ADV. Tipsy |

These are reports I had published at 2wf.com about the TAT. What I want to know though, is obviously you didn't take the Uly, but would you take the Uly on this trail, or is this more a GS/KTM/KLR type thing? Wayne |

Without knowing you, or how comfortable you are in the sticks, I'd say the Uly would be fine for most of the Eastern sections...although Arkansas had a few rough spots. The rest until when I stopped in UT would be alright, with a few hairy sections in CO ATV trails, the mountain passes depending on your comfort, and Black Dragon Canyon in UT. 90% of the trail is a yeah for the ULY, IMO, the rest you'll have to judge for your self...but it's pretty easy to get around spots, and hook back up with it later. There were a few spots when I was glad I decided to take the DR, and left the Strom at home. I think it's more fun on a single, but probably do-able on a larger bike. YMMV |

If a big KTM or BmW can hack it, I know I can, I have yet to find a place where actual non professional riders will take those that I wont go. All bets are off for company sponsored whacko pros though. |

"All bets are off for company sponsored whacko pros though." As in guys that don't have a dime invested in the ride, have spare parts waiting nearby and have a support team a phone/radio call away? Yup, it's amazing what one can do with a big beast....... |
