Here's the deal. I'm using ECMspy at the moment to do two things. 1) "Treadmark's Square" idle, or an average thereof which has been discussed in a previous thread (great idea by the way, thanks), and 2) add a bit of fuel to get rid of the decel popping between 2900 and about 4500 RPM (thanks to Maximum). Both solutions have worked like a charm by the way and I couldn't be happier. My question, is that when I get back from testing these tweeks, my AFV value has dropped to 86. Per the tuning guide I waited until everything was warmed up, reset TPS and AFV prior to doing anything. I know that riding in closed loop resets the AFV, so that's generally how I've been starting my rides after tinkering: moderate speed, 3K RPM, flat road for a few miles before laying the hammer down. Did I miss something or is this resulting in a loss of power. It sure doesn't feel like it, but any info as to what's going on with the AFV or how to keep it at 100 would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Theres no possibility to enable AFV learning and then keep AFV to 100 as air pressure changes and AFV with it. That's what AFV is made for. If you don't want AFV to change (why?), go open loop.

AFV is decreased if mixture in the overrun section is not lean. As you yourself made it richer ...

So Gunter, another question...Would it be optimal to multiply all cells by say .9 to make the front and rear maps a bit leaner to compensate for the 86 AFV value (and get it closer to 100), or am I way off (again)? Thanks for the help.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the AFV "feature" is what allows the fuel injection to compensate for air density. No matter the riding conditions the AFV will always try to get the fuel percentage back to stoichiometric or 14.7 to one (air/fuel), in closed loop, by 02 sensor feed back.

Can the race ecm map can be applied to the standard ecm thus making a race spec?

Teeps, I understand that to be exactly right. Not sure however about the Race ECM. I think I'm reading so far into the whole AFV thing that I'm confusing myself. I also see that you have a Dobeck TFI. Just curious how it's treating you as my uncle is very interested in Dobeck for his Uly.

What's wrong with an AFV value not being 100? Did you monitor fuel that you see some negative results from that? The engine requires the right amount of fuel, not a particular AFV.

So as it had been your changes to that assumably changed AFV, how's the idea to just go back to stock? Obviously your modifications were not aimed for what you wanted it.

Thanks again Gunter. Following the tuning guide to the letter has given me the exact results I was after, but was misunderstanding the role of AFV. I've got it straight now. Thanks again for the all the wisdom.

The problem is that you're learning a new AFV in one area of the map and then applying it everywhere. I'd be willing to be you're running quite lean in some areas. If your AFV used to be around 100 before you started tuning and with changes that you made it's now going to 86, you went to far with some of your changes.

That would be a horrible mistake (and one that can lead to significant damage).

This is not the way to properly tune a bike.

Your uncle should save his money, and either have a custom map worked up or buy one from Al, @ American Sport Bike.

Everyone just calm down. I'm not modifying a thing other than the overrun cells...by 2 points. I have an American Sport Bike map for my set up which is amazing. I was just attempting to fully understand the AFV. Not trying to blow up my bike.
