Out with the old: In with the new: After 50 months of ownership (October '03 to December '07) and 31,644 miles I traded my beloved '04 XB12R Firebolt for an '07 XB12X Ulysses with 4,926 miles on the clock. The bike and I were due for some serious crate time so after getting it home I spent a few hours tinkering with it in the garage. Needless to say, the dealer is not as particular/meticulous as I am. I rode it ~250 miles on New Years day with some friends and had a great time. It's going to take more time for me to really bond with the Ulysses, but I can tell that this bike and I are going to be good friends. |

Spike, Congrats on the "new" bike. Being in F-V, you will love the Uly. Unless they have changed to better road surfaces, the Uly will handle them better. Used to live in Spring Lake, and traveled through F-V frequently. Take care and continue to enjoy the best bikes built. |

Touching the ground is for the weak. Good luck with the new ride! |

BeachBuell, There are a number of Uly lowering threads on BadWeb. Generally they lower it about 1.4". Cost will run from about $250 on up. |

Mo betta pics: Jeff- It's not the road surfaces in F-V that bother me, it's the medians. Someone in charge of roads around here has apparently adopted a no-left-turn policy and has been placing medians at the entrance and exit of every shopping center. I plan on using the Ulysses' suspension to remedy that situation. |

You got the wrong licence plate thing, it should say 60mpg, not 50

Nice new bike Spike, your homework is to go get some MUD on her. Beach Buell, there are several shorter alternatives to the stock height uly, cutting the seat, lowering the bike, getting a TT, or if you have my height issues then you just ride the hell out of the CityX. There are ways to get you out on the dirt roads on a Buell, we are here to HELP. |

The Uly handles the grassy medians beautifully. After leaving a funeral escort, a buddy and I had to loop back to get him fuel. He didn't want to wait for the next exit(3 mi), so he cut the median, and I followed. My Uly handled allot better than his old Honda, it didn't like the grass. Just have fun, and stay safe. Keep an eye out for NC's finest. They might not appreciate your bike's ability as much as we do. |

Heh. The 50mpg tag was from my Firebolt, which would average close to 50mpg with a drummer, tfi, and open air box. If my Ulysses starts averaging closer to 60mpg I'll definitely order a new one. |

How's this for short notice? As expected, Pirelli Scorpion Syncs don't work well in mud. Sidi Vertigos are even worse. |

Not as much as I had hoped, but I did ok. It helped that the sales manager is a friend of mine and knew the exceptional condition of my Firebolt. Between that and the Ulysses being a demo/rental bike I was able to strike a deal. |

Spike, if you don't mind my asking, what did ya end up paying for the Uly? I'm looking at a very similar deal out here in So Cal. |

A picture from yesterdays ride: This really is an outstanding motorcycle. I can spend the afternoon strafing corners and exchanging wheelies with sport bikes, then ride home in complete comfort. |
