They don't earn money from the sport. They earn money because people devote hours of time sitting on the couch watching TV. They earn there money becuase you'll watch it. And what are they doing on TV? PLAYING SPORTS |

After Vicks next loss, lets hang him up and beat him . Then bury him in his own backyard with those 66 dogs the cops found. Hey............its just a thought |

"Thinking deeply about that is too over-whelming, so I'll take something smaller to get outraged about, like some jerk who killed his dog(s).If we could somehow catch Paris Hilton killing her dog, we would have mass-media heaven. " Your right on the money. It's funny how some things will invoke such national attention in this day of 24hr news coverage. In the 1940's Vick might have been a 4th page story only in major news papers. But now its all over the news. That is untill something more sensational happens. ----------------------------------- For those animal right lovers. The USA gives away billions of aid money to foreign nations. Many of which have a deep following of dog, chicken, bulls, etc etc fighting. Why should Vick get hammered when we sorta in a round about way allow other nations to do it. |

Yabbut in the 1940's, lynchings (while not as common as dog fighting) were not always front page stories in certain regions either. Times change... sometimes not for the better but times DO change. I also don't think that killing and eating dogs should be a problem - if done humanely. Of course, if you're Islamic, that is not allowed (dogs being unclean like shellfish and pork) - but for the rest of us, it's just dinner. (Message edited by slaughter on August 02, 2007) |

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” People are outraged not b/c of who he is, it's b/c when they think about what the charges are, they look down at their feet and see that loving animal who is part of the family and wonder how someone could do those things. Further more, I completely believe that had Vic been a cattle rancher or sheep herder, and did the things they are suggesting, there would still be an outcry. Just like in war, were we send our troops into kill. The main thing is that we know the difference between murder and sending our troops into battle. That in this case we know the difference between absolute cruelty and perversion and the need to feed ourselves by killing animals. |

People are outraged because it's simply barbaric behavior by a 'role model' with a fan base. |

of course they are role models. maybe not in the way youd like them to be. But they take a huge fee for playing a game that most of us play for fun. Who wouldn't want to do that? That's a role I'd love to play. I'd like to be Brett Farve for a day. When he had a cannon. (Message edited by danger_dave on August 02, 2007) |

Wanting to do what they do, does not qualify for role model, it qualifies as ENVY!!!! |

IF they are a role model then - the kids have some disengaged parents. People are outraged because it's simply SIMPLE. Thinking about something that is complicated like AG Gonzo lieing, the Iraqi involvement, poor congress approval, etc etc involves deep thinking. It's just so simple to be upset with Vick and dog fighting. Heaven forbid we spend sometime thinking about something that is truely important to this nation. |

>>Heaven forbid we spend sometime thinking about something that is truely important to this nation.<< I know people who even go onto SPORTBIKE boards to discuss mundane crap like sport riding, countersteering, riding technique and motorcycle accessories when the world is falling apart in their very laps! Really, I'm not making that up! I can even name one or two! I also know people who watch other than news on TV too. Some who actually spend more than a half hour a week watching SPORTS - I'm talking actually watching sports on TV - not watching sports at a local outdoor venue but on TV!!! I know nobody will believe me but I'm not making this up! I can prove it. If I actually owned a TV, I'm certain I'd be more accepting of these bizarre behaviors. Ok Ok.... I was moslty talking about the media. I understand people spend time doing less than "important" things. Like spending 2hrs at the gym 4-5 days a weeks. Also riding ATV's a few hours a week. etc etc. Things I do. Just blaming the media. |
