There are at least a couple of threads about it, but nobody's posted a scan yet. You could be the first! |

Saw it in the grocery store while grabbing supplies for the fourth. Also, don't have a scanner. It was a red firebolt...with a chain. |

Looks like it has a lightning long frame... must not be able to squeeze that motor in the short wheelbase versions. |

The Rotax v990 alone will fit in the original frame, and it appears as though there is enough room for everything else as well... (Message edited by interex2050 on July 06, 2007) |

so since this engine is liquid cooled where is the radiator. Is it up front and I just can't see it because the picture is kinda dark?? is this the only picture available, some one has to have had a spy shot of one by now if their were planning to unveil it anytime soon. |

Based on the output from the XBRR I would think they could get 120HP from an air-cooled sportster based engine. If it is indeed water-cooled, 120HP is a little disappointing when the Ducati has 160HP at the crank on their 1100cc engine. |

The RR puts out 152 at the wheel... cutting off at 8500 rpm... but they are capable of 9000+ rpm. |

I thought the firebolts were not going to be produced next year. Thats what I heard on here, any truth to that? |

Right, that's why I think that getting 120 Streetable HP should be very doable. If they are going to go the water cooled route, I would think that the motor would be putting out more than 120 horses. |

I know... but I think more than 120 is very realistic... |

The Tuono was "only" 135. I'm pretty sure this bike is shorter and lighter than the Tuono. 120 would still be enough to get most in trouble. |

Notice the drive is on the left side? I also noticed there in no idler pulley or any kind of adjustment visible for for the chain tension. The new Buell swingarms have a slot for the rear axle for adjusting the chain tension. Looks like another photochop? (Message edited by mramsey on July 06, 2007) |

Just found this on the cycle world forum: Translation of Motoraad “speculation article” on the new Buell. -------------------------------------------- "Buell fans will not have to wait much longer. August at the latest, at the Laguna Seca race track, the bike will be unveiled to a group of American invitees. The details obtained from unofficial sources are sketchy, but here is what we can surmise at this point. It will have a new engine developed in cooperation with Rotax. It will be a V2 1200 cc water cooled engine that will push the 150HP mark. Enough anyhow to reach top speeds of 280KM/H. The engine will not have much in common with the Aprilia V-2. Most likely the engine configuration will be a typical Buell 45 degree instead of the "standard 60 degrees Aprilia configuration" and employ two counter balancers to improve vibration inherent in the 45 degree trademark Buell configuration. This should alleviate the need for rubber mounting of motor and swing arm which improves chassis stability. Less sporty models will receive an air-cooled variant of the motor. No revolutionary innovations are to be expected with the construction of the frame. It will still function as a gas tank with the oil reservoir in the swing arm. At the most there might me minor geometry changes with a flatter steering head and longer wheelbase to promote high speed stability. The Buell XBRR presented at the Daytona Speedweek is the background for the new sports model. A computer generated rendition by Mr. Guerin took the liberty only to reshape the seat somewhat to make for a more comfortable ergonomics, surely in the interest to make the bike more interesting to the mainstream sport market." So what it amounts to is there are two rumors; one claims there will be a street-going version of the XBRR, that would be the "air-cooled variant" mentioned in the article. This would have, says the rumor, 120HP and weight 375 lbs dry. The other claims there will be a 1200cc Rotax-powered model making 150HP at 395 lbs. dry. These bikes will have full fairings and chain-drive. There is a good chance both of them will appear, which would give Buell a strategy much like Ducati's, with both a water-cooled and an air-cooled line. For sure at least one of them will appear, because invitations have already gone out to the world press to be present at Laguna Seca this year for the official unveiling. They need to show them something, and it's a bit too early for the dirt bikes to be ready. I will know for certain on July 8th, the day of the dealer meeting. There will be many cell phones in the crowd, so for sure we should be seeing pics by that evening. |

I want 120 at the wheel which would be about 135 at the crank. Those numbers would make me happy. 120 at the crank would mean that it's putting about 108 to the wheel in stock form which isn't much more than my modified 12R. |

Longer wheel base appears to me for sure. Looks like a coolant hose on the right side (in white), and some sort of scoop that goes from the left to right side just under the steering head. With all the speculation, how could the Rotax idea be wrong. When the Uly came out this boardwas full of speculation about a 'DualSport' bike, and wallah! |

>>>>Ducati has 160HP at the crank on their 1100cc engine. Question: Which model? I note that all the Ducati websites indicate 160HP for both the 1098 and the 1098S. I **think** (do not know and am sure someone will be thrilled to correct me) that the 160HP number is for the $19,995 "S" model, not the $14,995 1098. Also of note is that ALL the magazine tests I've seen to-date are for the $19,995 "S" model. Does anyone know the power for the 1098 or do the 1098 and the 1098S, with a $5,000 price difference actually share the same engine? |

I'd also be eager to ask how many folks, in the Buell demographic (say badweb folks) have ever, or would ever spend $20,000 for a sportbike? Anybody here ever bought say a MV Agusta? I'm thinking once you get past $12K ya pretty well leave the crowd behind . . |

Does anyone know the power for the 1098 or do the 1098 and the 1098S, with a $5,000 price difference actually share the same engine? I thought the engines were the same. I've read a few articles on this bike and I'm only going by memory. You are mostly paying for the upgraded suspension and wheels on the S. Those two things alone are worth the extra $5,000 if not more. We all know suspension makes or breaks a bike, or any vehicle for that matter. I know if I was more experienced and a little taller I would have already dropped $20,000 on the 1098 S. (Message edited by 07xb12scg on July 06, 2007) |

The 1098 and 1098s have the same motor, just better suspension on the S. Had the pleasure of riding a friends 1098S complete with a $3000 full-Termi system, supposably good for 150 RWHP and 80 lb-ft. Sumbitch is AWESOME. Only revved it to about 8000 (out of 10.5k), but still skeert myself silly, whilst laughing the whole time. Funnest thing was to get it in 2nd (3rd?) gear at 60mph, whatever puts 6000rpm on the tach. Then whack the throttle, and about 2 seconds later you're at 8000 rpm AND 100+ MPH! Me likey... Can't comment on handling as I ain't testing the limits of a friend's $25000 motorcycle on unfamiliar (and sometimes gravel-strewn) roads. GOD, I hope the new Buell can deliver that kinda rush... |

How cool would it be if you could do that for a fraction of the price? I wonder if somebody could produce that power and yet offer it in my price range? |

So Court: Do you know if motorcyclenews.com is really truly referring to Buell here? "At 9am Monday morning we’ll bring you the world’s first video and pictures of the most exciting sports bike we’ve seen since the Ducati 1098. Sadly we can’t say what it is yet as we’re under a strict legal agreement to bring it to you on Monday morning, but rest assured we’ll bring you first look at the most exciting V-twin motorcycle of the year. It looks like nothing else you’ve ever seen, sounds like a proper V-twin racer and from what we’ve seen of the video, this is a seriously good handling new motorcycle. Make sure you click back on Monday morning as we bring you the world’s first pictures and exclusive video of the bike being put through its paces." http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults /mcn/2007/July/jul2-jul9/jun0607newvtwinsportsmoto rcyclelaunchesexclusivelyonourwebsite/?&R=EPI-9253 4 (I will be SO pissed if this ain't the new Buell they're talking aboot...) |
