I say its not a harley... Buells are engineered by the Buell engineering team... Harleys are engineered? (well sometimes they like to borrow) As you mentioned earlier, just because a name has come under a different ownership it sure as heck does not mean that the spirit of the owned company goes away (Message edited by interex2050 on May 22, 2007) (Message edited by interex2050 on May 22, 2007) |

A Buell is a Buell and if they were sold along side other sport bikes and not in HD dealerships there would probally be a lot more of them on the road. If your not going into a HD dealership for a Buell specficly then your not going to be swayed into getting one. However if you were going into a sport bike shop looking for a bike that could cut and carve like no other you could be swayed off a "rice burner" and onto a Buell. sorry for the rant but from what I read most HD shops don't want our business. |

Buell makes them in blue and yellow. I don't think those are stock colors in Harley's products. End of argument. |

(renault owns Ferrari but that does not make it a renault) I think you'll find that Fiat owns Ferrari If Buell want to stop being associated with harley then they really should get out of the 'chrome palaces' and into either dedicated Buell showrooms or amongst other sportsbikes in multi franchise dealerships (or maybe they think they won't stand the comparison?). The last comment is meant lightheartedly by the way |

Haven't you noticed the bar and shield company logo on the side of the cylinder? So part of the motor must be harley. It is almost the same as the bar and shield tatoo that tens of thousands of clad in black bikers, and bikeless biker wannabees have. I guess that makes them part harley too. |

I always considered Buells a sportbike with a Harley drivetrain ... However, the make of the bike is whoever designs and builds it ... not who made the drivetrain. |

Please stop this, this is only reminding me how depressed I am that I have to take the Mercedies-Benze(sp?) chrome thingies off my Dodge Ram 2500,standard bed with big tires, 4x4, now that it is no longer going to be a Mercedies. I will miss that little symbol that I used as a gun sight on the hood. |

It shares a motor. Many cars that are in smaller production do this too. Doesn't make them the same thing. |

If they were, they'd be called the Harley Davidson Firebolt. Or the Harley Davidson Lightning Super TT. And, you could buy one at ANY Harley Davidson Dealership. And they'd be happy to sell one to you. On all counts, they are defiantly not. I went to the dealer the other day and picked up a couple of quarts of oil and a quart of Formula +, along with a new oil filter. I got to the parts counter and asked if they had brake pads in stock. The parts man, (veteran not rookie) asked me what bike - and I told him an `01 S3T. He got into his computer and after a few frustrated mumbles he was able to pull it up and order the pads for me. Then, he began to ring-up my other purchases. When he came to the filter, which was just a standard HD filter - he said that it was the wrong one and that he had the Buell filters in the back. I was Impressed! HOw wonderful. Buell parts in stock and a parts guy that knows where they are!! So he came back with my "BUELL" filter and I happily went on my way. I went to change my oil last night and the god-damn filter doesn't fit my bike. Apparently Tubers take different filters than the XB and Mr. Friendly parts guy didn't know that. (neither did I, actually). Yet, it cost me an extra trip to Napa to get a filter that would fit. If Buells were Harley's, that wouldn't have happened. |

Is a Shelby Cobra a Ford? Is a Sunbeam Tiger a Ford? Is a Pantera a Ford? Is a Taurus a Ford? (Yes, to that last one). |

Take an exotic italian frame and swing arm and an IL4 motor and we'll call it a Bimota. Take an exotic italian frame and swing arm and put a vee twin engine in it. Shall we call it a Harley? I really do not think so. |

If you want it to be a Harley - it is.... If you don't want it to be a Harley - it isn't...... My experience is that to people who do not own a Harley or a Buell..... it is a Harley! |

geeze.....i was just happy to own something other than the 200 IL4's I see a week with.....I think Suzuki gave a warehouse blowout sale on the 600,750,1000cc gsxr's or something around here...... Yeah the cylinders have the HD badge on them but CAN YOU GUYS NOT READ THE BIG ARSE BADGE PASTED ON THE AIRBOX OF YOUR BIKES??????????????? Just because my Scion XB has a Toyota power plant and toyota is stamped on every piece of sheet metal doesnt mean its a toyota......just means it was probably funded by some company that has a whole heck of a lot more money.......ALTHOUGH, my Scion is pretty much a toyota corrola chassis, engine and tranny.....HA HA! |

It's absolutely not a Harley. Why? Because I own one and I would NEVER buy a Harley. |

"My experience is that to people who do not own a Harley or a Buell..... it is a Harley!" That's 100% opposite of my experience. Most folks think my buell is some kind of foreign made sport bike and are shocked to learn that Buell is a subsidiary of HDI |

Well according to the service guys at the local HD dealership, my S2 is definitely not a Harley. They don't sell parts for buells. I have to pretend to have a '96 Sportster when I want oil filters. They do have a buell on the floor, a Blast that they use for Rider's Edge. I wonder if they take it to Pensacola for servicing. |
