I know it's winter, but was noticing how nasty the front of my engine has gotten, what's the best cleanser/method for cleaning it? |

Pay no attention to him. Brake - Carb/choke spray will make it a cinch. Spray a dime area on the rag, use finger to wipe/scrub - very easy. Funny... I just bought some "foaming engine cleaner" yesterday - but have yet to test it. |

I would NOT recommend using "Gunk" It seems to "eat" into the paint on the Magnesium tone primary and timing cases on the Twelve. If I recall correctly, it didn't affect the black wrinkle paint on the NInes. Test before you try it please. |

S100. Spray it on, let it sit for about a minute or two. Hose it off. Works like a charm! |

Steve - S100 is nothing more than 33% diluted Simple Green. Save yourself some dough an buy a 1 gal jug of Simple Green and make your own - that's what I do. By the way - I'm for the Simple Green/S100 theory. Works like a charm and it wont mess up the finish. |

That was the direction I was going guys, so thanks for the feedback. I didn't want to buy something that would eat the finish. Im pretty clear that water and a brush is used to clean things, so thanks Tiger.. |

I don't know if it's changed or not, but Honda Brite used to be just relabeled S100, but it sold for a lot less. It's been awhile because the local Honda dealer isn't nearly as local as the local BMW dealer, so I've been using S100 myself. I'd won a bottle of Honda Brite at a road rally, though, and it was the exact same thing (even comes from the same factory according to the label). I bought the Honda Brite for awhile after that, but eventually I got lazy. I was in the BMW shop a lot buying stuff, so it was easier than making a special trip to Honda just for the cleaner. |

I use Honda contact cleaner and brush. Will not harm paint or any surface or damage to possible gaskets. The engine looks like brand new. |

I have tried using 409 on my black primary cover, and I have tried using one of those steam cleaners on it and can not get some road grime stains off of it. What do you guys think? The stains are from riding in the rain one day. |

You were dead on the money with the Eagle One + paper towel for the headers so I think I'll try the Honda Contact Cleaner the very next time my annual wash my bike day comes around. |

Its in all Automotive stores and Hardware stores. I've never used the stuff. Its ok but I know it won't do what Contact cleaner will.

Hey what about cleaning the grey portion of the lower faring? Mine hasn't been free of stains since the day it was delivered. I've tried all sorts of cleaners and applicators. The material is porous and does a great job of retaining grime. |

Hey what about cleaning the grey portion of the lower faring? I painted mine with black wrinkle paint. Looks cool and when it gets chipped and scuzzy, I paint it again. 25k miles and I've painted it twice. As for everything else...I like Greased Lightning. |

The nice thing about Simple Green is that it's water soluable. Buy the spray bottle, then buy the large refill bottle. Then you can mix it the strength you want. I usually mix it 50/50 with water. I have tried EVERYTHING to clean the gray portion on my chin fairing. Nothing short of painting it will work. That's what I plan on doing next. |

I found out recently that WD 40 is great at cleaning off the motor/tranny. Spray it on, let it work, spot spray the really grimy places again, then hose it off. It brings back the brightness of the engine aluminum too. *disclaimer* DON'T SPRAY ON A HOT ENGINE. |
