My arms are not erect either. I find this Internet shit to be completely innocuous. Freaks or no, people that get all inflamed over it should remove their badselfs from the threat. |

"shouldn't get all up in arms" Never mind, I get that part of it. It's the windmill part that throws me off. I can't be expected to read my own crap...it makes me sleepy. |

quote:But freedom of speech and non-censoring types shouldn't get all up in arms when someone else wants to be Godfearing, political and freak-less(?). Tit for tat and all that crap.
Bam! There it is. That was my whole point. Citing free speech as the reasoning for more profanity while eliminating the ability to mention god would be a big double standard, hypocrisy at its finest. |

"While I appreciate your concern for my godless apolitical freak self..bla..bla..bla..." Please allow me to set the record straight. I don't give a rat's ass about your "godless apolitical freak self." I have so little concern for you it makes my head hurt trying to calculate just how small and insignificant the actual amount of concern might be. |

Not enough stream or hose too short? Seriously Lowflyer, that wasn't Christian, not at all. It was downright mean. Shame on you. Please be excellent to each other. |

Whoa...I'm not with you all the way Lowflier. I love Reg and am concerned about him...in a manly non-gay kind of way. But I'll rack your non-Jesus outburst up to a zeal not in accordance with knowledge. You're only human, Bro. I love you too. Man...I feel like passing the ...P-L-A-T-E...where's Paul? I hear he got some seeeerious jack...saw money, tree flow, fish power...you know what ah'm talkin 'bout! |

Seriously, Lowflier, not to pick on you. I have dropped some stink bombs in my time and am one of theose believers who has learned most of what I know the hard way. Quite frankly I am an idiot. However, it is not your place if you are a Christian to ever talk that way to anyone all the while representing yourself as an ambassador for Christ. You don't give a (your words) "Rat's Ass" about him? Well, I'm not gonna pile on you, but this is not the mind of Christ talking in your post. E-mail me if you wish, or just give it some serious thought. -Sinner Jon |

I honestly do not care what people believe or do not believe. I try to get to know people for who and what they are - works much better for me. I'm also open minded enough to appreciate a positive sentiment from friends in the spirit it's given: all the kind words and thoughts, religious and not, from friends when my mom died meant the world to me. But Lowflyer shows nicely why religion, along with politics and sex, is on the "tread lightly" list "when the inlaws are over for dinner". Those are all topics that seem to make it very difficult for the participants to "let it go" and agree to disagree. Henrik (GAF) |

I think the topic was alright Henrik, but the speaker was off base. My 2 cents. |

So, because Lowflyer is sometimes mean when provoked, let's throw God off the Internet too. That seems like good justification to me. I was just responding to some perceived meanness directed at me. I speak the truth. I don't know Reg and he hasn't posted anything that would cause me any real concern or reason to pray for him. Whether I am Christian or not, or act in a Christian manner is not for anybody but Him to decide. Only He knows what's in my heart. People telling other people what is/isn't of a particular religion is what gets most folks riled up. I would get riled up if I cared. I might care if this were not the Internet. So let's throw God off the Internet; shall we? |

Lowflyer, I think you are exaggerating my point regarding profanity. It would seem you are suggesting that by encouraging the use of profanity I am solititing sexual favors. For instance, if I use the F word in a sentence I would be seeking phone sex with Pammy. Not so, or at least not my intention. I have no objection to references to religion, for instance if you were to say you felt the Buell motorcycle is the Holy Grail of bikes. But I do object to be preached to, or sneered at, or held in low esteem based on my beliefs. I actually do believe in God, and have strong spiritual committments. I just feel that my religion, like sex, is personal and should not be a matter of public discussion. At least not on a motorcycle board. |

Reg, It's an enigma wrapped in a conundrum tied with mystery, no? Lowflyer - It took me a while to get the freak, as in Jesus Freak pun - my bad and funny now that I get it, not that I was actually offended by the reference to begin with even if it did describe me. Jon, Upbraiding Lowflyer for un-Christian behavior is exactly the kind of thing (IMHO) Paul had in mind with this topic/suggestion. It can become extremely personal to folks very quickly no matter how carefully you tread or how well-intentioned the comments. -- Examples?: Let's say I worship at the Temple of the Sausage Monster. I would think say, posting "almost bit it on the way home from service Sunday at the Temple of the Sausage Monster. Over the RR tracks, airborne for 30 feet, landed, dirt-tracked it around the pig truck. . .squeals from the swine drowning out squeals from the tires of the Duc as I hung on, eyes closed twisting the grip to the stop." What's the only thing outside BW rules in that statement? I was riding a Duc. the fact I was leaving service when the incident happened is merely part of the story, not an attempt to push my belief on anyone else. Now if I start a thread just talking about my belief in the Sausage Monster, and try to proselytize/recruit folks to my religion? Um, no. Thoughts? |

I think the topic was alright Henrik I do too - I don't mind mention of religious content, references etc.. That's why I used the term "tread lightly" rather than say "do not mention". I think Philly's got it right; no preaching. Should religion come up as a part of the story - no problem. Funny; here I am in a discussion about religion, and Jehova's Witnesses ring my door bell. Coincidence ... I think not Henrik (Message edited by Henrik on June 17, 2006) |
