I know this is gonna stir the pot, but does anyone have a hp comparison between the three. The sound is about the same it seems between the spec ops and the drummer, but the $175 gap in the price is significant to say the least. How does the factory race kit compare to the other two in hp with a remapped ecm with the other two. I know everyone here has an opinion, but I am looking for some numbers. |

It's not just a numbers question, there is the workmanship of the pipe, the volume level output, the character of the sound, durability, warranty implications, etc. The absurd extreme would be if you just want peak hp at a low price, saw the header off right before it goes in your stock pipe, and have it dyno tuned for best performance at redline. I'm not slamming the question, just making the point that there is not even one question to ask, much less one answer to each possible question. |

The question was, what does the $175 you would spend extra on a Drummer get you? By the time I have the computer reprogrammed and purchase a high flow computer what will is it really worth the extra money or can I achieve the same thing with the race kit for $600. And I'm not sure if you read the post or not because I mentioned nothing about peak hp, just the differences. I also didn't ask for opinions just because of a response like this, just the differences and what my money would get me. There was one question and for me one answer, what does my money buy me. |

Well while we are stirring this cauldron, I am a new Buell owner (Uly) and I was wondering which of the after market pipes are the quietest, I feel the bike has enough hp, although the curve could use some flattening. Any help is appreciated. |

I read the post. Including the part that said "but I am looking for some numbers". The Extra $175 will get you different workmanship, different sound volume, different sound character, different performance, different warranty implications, and a different look. There. Does that help? The drummer will net you more horsepower then the race kit across the entire RPM range. There are dyno plots in the knowledge vault, I seem to recall at least 3 hp most everywhere, and 5 hp peak in the midrange, narrowing to about 1hp at peak RPM. I don't ever recall seeing a dyno plot of the Odie pipe. I have a first generation Odie pipe off bike and sitting in the garage, not because it is a bad pipe, my goals just changed and stock suited me better. |

Which is the "Odie" pipe, and do you want to sell it so I can check it out? |

I second the question of the new Uly owner. I want an aftermarket muffler to give my bike a nice sound. I don't want to change out the ecm or the air filter. I've heard enough comments about the Drummer being LOUD so unless Kevin can modify his design for me I won't be installing the SS Drummer, even though it's a great looking unit. The only other choices I'm aware of are the Special Ops, Micron and the Buell Pro series. These all seem to be more than what I want. Do I have any other choices? Thanks Barry |

I'm guessing the "Odie pipe" is the Spec Ops? Jeez, I wish all these pipe companies could come up with a decibel rating system so we could at least compare that, even though it wouldn'd describe the quality of the sound like high or low pitch. |

Sorry... it was the "Odie" pipe before Odie got the cool name and the cooler sticker Mine was REALLY early, I think it is different setup then a current special ops pipe. It's "dang loud". |

I had a loud Drummer on my uly, Great sound and power but too loud for me..... Sounded like a strait pipe harley. Ordered a standard Drummer. Drummer is an excellent product. (Message edited by ezrider on March 19, 2006) |

This question keeps getting asked and never answered. It will take someone willing to use the same Dyno and operator on the same day to test pipes. I'm ready to flip a coin between the econodrummer and special-ops pipes. I don't want to add a high-flow filter and re-map the stock ecm at this time, but probably at a later date as my budget allows. Both mufflers seem very well made from what I've read. I've listened to sound clips of both but unless they are recorded with the same device, its impossible to compare. I wish db ratings were included in all pipe manufacturers websites, but again, there is no real standard for measurement. Tim |

I am currently installing a SPECOPS pipe on my bike. The choice was made on price and recommendation from another Bueller. Additionally I didn't want to change the ECM and/or air filter. I will add that I had a 9S with the Buell Performance kit on and it was awesome. Also after chatting with Odie thru emails, I was very pleased with his service, (and the fact that we are both retired army and test pilots). I sent him a new XB12S pipe and got back a fantastic looking mod, the Tailgunner. He mailed the pipe on wed and I got it Thursday, if I didn't have to work it would already be on. Later today I will add pix. |

OK, just finished installing the "tailgunner", it's awesome. Took me about 45 minutes, by myself (faster with two). The sound is "Harley", but not obnoxiously loud, but at least it now doesn't sound like an "Oreck". Here is a pic, you might notice that I moved the bracket screws!! I like it!!! |

Midwayav8r That is the most bad ass pipe! Did you just drill holes in the specops? Does it change anything other than looks? And last, mind if I steal that idea? |
