Our 2006 race bike project is almost complete and now stands on it's own wheels at last! First race is this coming weekend at the inaugaral round of the UK Thunderbike Championship, so still some work to do, although I think you'll agree it doesn't look much like a Ulysses any more Bodywork will be ready Monday and is stunning!
By the way, the Yamaha top triple tree will be replaced with a billet top to match the bottom one before race day (Message edited by trojan on March 19, 2006) |

Wow, Belt Drive primary that has got to be a first...And the supporting brackets, So this elimates the electric starter right.. Hows this front sprocket compare to the xb`s 9 or 12 in ratio? Also I might add what size is the bore now? (Message edited by hogs on March 19, 2006) |

Hi Hogs, The electric start is still in place with the belt drive primary, although I am thinking of making a 'slot in' starter that can be pushed into place when needed. The belt drive kit saves a large amount of weight and has better gearshifting and drive. Front sprocket in the picture is the stock Uly item, although this will be removed and replaced with our chain drive kit before the weekend. Ratio for this weekend will be 21T F/48T Rear. Our chain kit retains the original swingarm so no reduction in strength or change in wheelbase. Bore is stock but we are using Wiseco 12:1 pistons and running on Sunoco GT Plus 109 Octane unleaded. Heads have been flowed by Hal's. |

The open primary does look cool but on a sport bike that may get laid down in a corner, I would be worried that the pulleys and belt would get torn up. |

Are those PM tuber wheels on that XB... With a dual disk redundant fail safe setup? |

I think they are factory Yamaha wheels. From the bike that "donated" the forks. |

'The open primary does look cool but on a sport bike that may get laid down in a corner' He thought of that: most circuits in the UK are clockwise! |

Are those PM tuber wheels on that XB... Rear wheel is from a XB9 (lighter than the stock Uly wheel). Front wheel is a forged aluminium item from Braking, brake discs front & rear are from the same company. It weighs a little more than the XB front wheel but not as much as you may think. There will be a guard fitted to the open primary, and it will also be covered by the fairing, so shouldn't be damaged in an accident (unless it is a big one that is!) Do you have a close up of the front brake lever and master cylinder? Front radial master cylinder is from ISR in Sweden. It is adjustable for reach and also ratio. We are using the one on the right of the picture with the remote reservoir.

Hows this front sprocket compare to the xb`s 9 or 12 in ratio? Sorry I forgot to answer your original question. The primary ratio with this kit fitted is 1:45 as opposed to the stock XB12 1:5 and XB9 1:68. The belt primary was not made to sell but as a showcase for Marcello's talents at Free Spirits. It would be very expensive, but if demand is there....... |

I can't tell you the price Henrik, as that's Trojan's business, but thought you might like this pic. By the way, I was keeping these as my best kept secret. Now you're all gonna want 'em.

Now you're all gonna want 'em. I want 'em, but I'm sure I can't afford 'em. They got a clutch lever to match??Nevermind, I see it in the pic Nice stuff! (Message edited by tank_bueller on March 20, 2006) |

There is a clutch lever and clamp to match. There's a choice between 6mm or 8mm cable fitting. Incidentally, you can swivel the above unit and use it as a hydraulic clutch reservoir. You can adjust the lever ratio and the bias. They're ridiculously cheap compared to AP, Magura, Brembo etc. Rocket |

Nice Rocket. Thanks for the picture. I'd hate to drop my SV on one of those ... The lever doesn't by chance fold up for just such an occasion? Henrik |

i have seen those, they have a few different models, but for how they look quality wise, i was surprised how cheap i thought they were, i want to say i saw them for around 350 bucks for the one with the reservoir on it, and they get cheaper from there, still to much money for me, but just seemed cheap for what they were. O.K., those are too sweet. I just had to check them out on the Trojan site. The price is not nearly as high as I thought.(shipping to the US may crush that theory) Will the integrated reservoir lever work with with the stock ZTL?, or is it geared toward a higher volume dual disk type setup? They're available with at least two different piston sizes. The lever doesn't fold but replacements are considerably cheaper than some stock levers. Rocket |

says you can change the lever in like 20 sec. too so i guess if you had one in your back pocket and you wrecked at the track, you are good to go |

there must be some belt primary for our bikes since it is the same at a sportster, i would think there has to be a kit out there some where, with all the other custom crap out there. that is something i would really like to have, i dont ride twisties all that hard so i wouldnt worry bout scraping. |
