If it is a factory racer, then the announcer at Daytona will have to repeat the same as last October, "And now the REAL motorcycles will be on the track!". Referring to the Thunderbike class as they went out on their warm up lap. Its gonna be fun this year...... |

Also at the unveiling will be riders Ciccotto and non other than Jeremy McWilliams. Also introduced will be satelitte team (kinda like Erion Honda)Innovative Research with rider Mike Hale. 2007 will be the year of the fully faired XB. |

The new bike sounds cool. 150+HP Ohlins Suspension CF bodywork Magnesium wheels The specs remind me of a 999R-except it isn't street legal. Buell should get some industry respect for this one I would think. Very exciting though! |

In the meantime . . . get to Orbitz and get those tickets. You miss HEARING this thing, you'll be kicking yourself from now until Homecoming! Daytona, up until this year, has lost a lot of what made it great. It's evolved from a motorcycle event to cole slaw bikini (not entirely a bad thing) wrestling. To quote Eric Burdon (Bomber, see if you can name the song). . . "for those of you who can not understand" . . . if you have ever been to Daytona when the VR-1000 was running you know what I mean. The bike was not ready for prime time and the entire race team / strategy had more holes in it than swiss cheese. But.....when that bike came around the turn onto the front straight. . . EVERYONE . . regardless of affiliation turned toward that sound and watched intently. Erik Buell knows that sound, he knows that track and he knows his engine. He is an artist, a musician and an American dreamer. A big dream is racing, sure. But, more importantly, to him, is wresting control of a classic moto-mecca from the hands of the PR and entertainment community and returning to the same folks who, as kids, sat aboard those bikes and dreamed. Motorcycles, in the United States, are FUN. Don't fool yourself, we don't use them as utility vehicles. Therefore if you are going to be the WORLD CLASS AMERICAN MOTORCYCLE designer/builder (so, sue me) you have to make motorcycling, and everything that surrounds it, fun. . DAMN FUN. Time has come, get ready to play. Ride safe, lean much and smile more. Court |
