I like the golden color with bluish purple but I have some splotchy marks on mine. I think from when the service tech put it together and didn't clean it before starting it. I have tried cleaning it with Protectall when it is cool but never any polish or anything like that. What have you guys used to keep it looking good? |

I use Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish on mine with a paper towel and some elbow grease. Takes some time, but the shine is beautiful. |

Mine had the blotchiness too. I did nothing but wash with soap and water. Eventually, the blotches went away. I don't buy the expensive stuff either. I use a drop or two of Dawn in a 2-gal bucket of water on mine. Diluted Simple Green works well too. |

Speed, if you are talking about the new finish on the ULY, I am not sure if Cat's system will work or not. The old pipes that were just plain stainless cleaned up nicely with the Mothers, but the new pipes have a different finish, I think it is anodized or something. Cat - have you tried it on the new headers? Better safe than sorry:-) |

Is that on the textured header pipe? I was concerned that using polish on the textured area would mess up the gold finish on the Uly header. |

Gentleman Jon - we had the same thought at the same time. I thought he might be talking about a smooth pipe instead. |

The header should be stainless steel. I used to own BMWs and they were famous for bluing their pipes. You could scrub yourself to death trying to get them back to the "factory" look, and in a few miles they'd be blue again. I won't worry too much about it. If you are real concerned, have them Jet Coated. http://www.jet-hot.com/ |

Just a light rub with a dry scotchbright pad will have them looking good as new. They will be a little more silver in color until the first time you heat them up then they will return to that purdy golden color! BC Steve |

Cat - have you tried it on the new headers? New Headers? Unless Buell changed what they use from what I have on my Buell XB9SX then it should be ok. Worked well on my headers. |

The Uly header has a rough texture on the outside, not the normal smooth pipe. That is why I was wondering if it is possible to use polish. |

Eagle 1 metal polish. Best looking header finish I've ever seen. |

Sorry guys, the Ulysses has powdercoated headers, if you try to polish them you will ruin the gold finish! |

Mine has had some sort of tape or sticker on one of the pipes, it's left a mark that I would like to get rid of, any tips? |

A Tiger that was brought (new) into a local shop had tape on the exhaust when it was first started. They had to replace the whole exhaust. Steve Gear up! |

Good joke Diablo... you actually had me going enough to look at mine closer and attempt to scrape/chip something off the header. DAve |

You don't. Buells are made for riding, not polishing. LOL! |

Headers are the same stainless steel as all the others(except M-2) and can be polished up very nicely with some Mothers and very fine steel wool. That gold color comes right back after a heat cycle or two. |

Used Eagle One on my '039S at the beginning of the riding season. It removed the bluing, and interestingly, almost none of the bluing has come back after a full season of riding (?). Good stuff. |
