I had a small oil leak under my timing gear cover, so I replaced the cam shaft seal with the standard HD part. No luck. It was a very, very slow leak, so I didn't replace the seal a second time until after a visit to a new and local Harley custom shop, "Smoking Motorcycles" in Smiths Point, NY. Giovanni the owner, told me that "nobody" uses Harely gaskets, and the the James Gasket seals were much better. I didn't even know that third party gaskets were available. http://www.jamesgaskets.com/parts/JGI-11124.htm He was right. The part looked much better designed and constructed than the Harley part, and it works much better. Cost a couple of bucks more, but worth it. Took me an Gerry about 15 minutes to do it, but it was the second time around. Available from Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited dealers. Sponsors please take note. |
