We'll be parking our truck at a friend's place 5 miles outside the track and taking one of our bikes and riding 2-up to the track. The leg, shoulder, ribs and back are healing but a 6 hour ride is outta the question so I'm wimping out and riding the last 5 miles but will see everybody at the Love Shack and the BRAG paddock! We have a friend racing AMA Superbike who we have usually pitted for up here at the Toyota 200 the past couple years but (BIG SURPRISE) - he has plenty of pit crew at Laguna. Watch for Scott Jensen - GSXR1000 #61 |

If we can get the truck up to the Love shack to unload on Thursday, we'll be able to keep the bike parked in the Buell parking. That way we're not using such a large footpring on the hilltop. We're using the bike for local transportation. |

I have one [1] normal, non-BRAG 3-day MotoGP ticket, plus a BRAG M/C-designated parking pass which allows you in @ Hiway 69 main gate [other tix require track access thru Seaside or Salinas backroads]. Face value of $90 is your price, too. Curt 408.482.4824 |

Curt, I just sent both you and Augie an e-mail. BTW, know where in the world Augie can crash? Anybody got a line on a hotel room? Camping spot, overpass? |

I'll be driving/riding back & forth each day - that's 1 way for [kinda] locals to resolve the where-do-I-sleep? quandry. I keep getting other "I'll take it" enquiries for my $90 ticket, so somebody's money's gonna be talking very soon - still haven't heard from Augie [it's 9am Fri] |

So who is riding up from So Cal? I can leave Thursday morning and would like to ride up with others. I don't mind going some out of my way to hook up. I was also wondering, if I arrive at the track on Thursday, will they let me in to pitch my tent? |

Timbo, George K. (scckayak...) is riding up with Jen & me Thursday morning to SLO. We will probably hook up at some point with A.L. & Reindog who are staying overnight in SLO. We're pretty flexible at this time wrt plans. Sparky |

Timbo, Ferris and I are riding up Thursday. that should read: Timbo, Ferris and Denise and I are riding up Thursday. we'll be two-up on the Blue Nuke, leaving the 'Dome at 0400, meeting Unibear at Dennys in Bakersfield at 0500 (Timbo, you remember the one), rolling at 0600 via 58 W to Black Mountain, N to Shandon, NE to Cholame, NW to Parkfield, SE to San Miguel, N to the junction of 25/198 (just NW of Priest Valley), W on 198 to San Lucas, W to G14, S on G14 to Jolon, W thru Fort Hunter Ligget to Highway 1, and N to Monterey. yep, the route is twisted, but consider the source... we'll be taking lots of photo op stops thru-out the day, i.e. in absolutely no hurry whatsoever. many of these roads i've not ridden before, and it should be a grand adventure. you're welcome to join us. Reindog and I are indeed heading up Thursday. We're leaving SD bright and early Thursday AM so we can get up through LA by a reasonable time. Plan is to take a relatively fast way to Frazier Park and do the roads that wind northwest from there (Frazier Mountain Park rd, Mil Potrero Hiway, Soda Lake road, 58 are the best guesses at this time). But we're not locked in to anything other than wanting to get to SLO by 6PM. I just want to do it differently than the usual southern coastal route. Haven't made specific arrangements to connect with Sparky et al in LA yet, but if they want to go that same route, we're game. Al |

Al, how will you eventually get onto 58? i don't see anything paved on my AAA map that connects 166 and 58. would be fun to rendezvous with you guys on the road somewhere, but the timing/logistics issue seems daunting... have you ever ridden 229? it's just east of Santa Margarita on 58. it's a short road, perhaps 15 or 20 miles, and will take you a teeny bit out of your way, but it is quite unique and entertaining. maybe consider riding it up to Creston (there's a charming little country store on the left when you come into Creston ((no fuel))), then u-turn and head back to 58 so you can continue on to SLO? ride safe. FB&D ps: don't let Forger lead. |

Geez, a guy doesn't get a break around here if he's not precise! It's not that I considered Denise riding along as insignificant, just that I was trying to be "brief". |

Al, there used to be paved roads between Taft and Hy 58. Been awhile sense I've worked over there. Not much to see but dust, weeds & oil fields. |

Ferris, Of course I remember the Dennys, it's the one you can't get to from the freeway (sheesh). Dennys at 05:00. Hmmm. That means on the road by 03:00 for me. Knowing I'll be working long hours on Tues. and Wed., I'm probably not going to be ready to get up that early on Thurs. That's a bummer too, because it sounds like you have a grand adventure indeed mapped out. Timbo |

Al, Looking at a map here, an alternative could be to meet in Ventura (probably the same distance as Frazier Park for you) and head north on the 33. Take it up to the 58, and head west. We would end up hitting the 101 just a bit north of SLO. Or do the 229 Ferris mentioned and hit the 101 a little further north. Unless that IS the southern route you wanted to avoid. On the map I can see there is a road that goes west from Frazier Park, then splits and goes north west to the 33, but according to my map there are sections of that road that are "unimproved". Not sure what that means. Where do you plan to stay in SLO? Timbo |

Al, Looking at the map a little more, I see the route you mentioned that goes past Soda Lake to the 58. That could be fun too. Have you ridden those roads? Timbo |

Timbo, sorry for being such early birds, it's what happens when one is used to getting up and beginning their work day at 0230... the up side (for us, anyway) is that it gives us plenty of time to take our time on the ride to Monterey. have a fun, safe ride. FB&D |

ps: if any of you do decide to ride 229, give it plenty of respect -- it's little more than a glorified go-kart track at times. we're gonna ride it with Unibear on the way back from the weekend, can't wait to show it to him. |
