I’ve tried Google, but that’s just not working. I’m trying to put together a logo for my fishing boat. She’s named the Rim Reaper, which is a little play on words using the Grim Reaper and Pacific Rim. I want a simple caricature in black, of the Grim Reaper, but with a fish hanging from his scythe. If I could find the Grim Reaper part, I think I could add a fish pretty easily, but I’m having no luck at all. Anyone have any ideas where to search? Or any artistic types want to trade a dead fish for a drawing? Or maybe a stock S1W part or two? (There’s the Buell part, Blake.) I seem to be stumped. Capt. Pete |

Too intense?: http://www.jmbdistribution.com/images/Grim%20reaper.jpg Not intense enough?: http://www.londonstimes.us/toons/cartoons/Simeon_GrimPhilosophy1.jpg Might be something to work with: http://www.funtoos.com/d/afull/grim_reaper_tattoo.jpg This one you could replace the word "cake" with "fish".: http://www.bakingshop.com/bc/img/OH-3.jpg On this one the scythe appears to be made from a backbone, maybe you could replace the backbone with a fish skeleton?: http://www.ameliaclark.com/a-grim_reaper.jpg This one might be appropriate for those bad days we all have sometimes.: http://hometown.aol.com/dpcarbocci/images/grim%20reaper%201hp.jpg Any help? |

Capt. Pete, Give me a day or two to draw something up and I'll send it to your e-mail address. I understand you want the Grim Reaper in black but do you want a full color type of logo or a silhouette style? Let me know and I'll get to work ASAP. BTW, you've already paid for it. |

"Rim Job" -- My oh my! The things you folks know about that I don't (didn't). My hair is beginning to curl as we speak. There are so many things that would never be done if I were the one who had to invent it. A "Rim Job" is pretty high up on the list. A back flip on a motorcycle is another, as is cliff diving. I did invent the skateboard though. Remind me to tell you about sometime (spoken in my best NYC accent). |

Well, now that you mention it… I was looking for a domain name for a little website, and discovered that Rim Reaper had already been taken. After I finally settled on an old corporation name I used for a prior fishing boat, I started getting curious about that Rim Reaper domain. Holy Crap! But the boat’s already named, has been for a couple of years, and if it gets the deviates all excited, good for them. They can stop by and give jaws a go, if that rings their bell. Anyway, thanks for all the input. Except for the links, Boese; my one foray by accident was quite sufficient. maybe because I never heard the expression pacific rim .... Easy to remedy. I prescribe starting out slow, maybe two hours of NPR a week to begin with. You can always increase the dosage as you become acclimated. Mike - great idea on the fish skeleton. Thanks. Ohhh..., I suspect he'll find you eventually. And I suspect you’re right. He’s been nipping at my heels for years. But we’ve struck a little accord: I’m about to be in charge of his dirty work with reference to the local shark population. That should buy me a little more time. Jim – whatever you think would look best. It’s going on the boat, about 2½ feet in diameter, and then on my truck doors as well. (Maybe on top of my old bald head, if it really comes out cool!) Capt. Pete PS: The BadWeb out-Googles Google. Thanks. |

And funny enough here is another thing i found http://www.the-turds.co.uk/rim-reaper.asp and yes indeed if you had this domain http://www.rimreaper.com/ support then i suspect you could be makin some money... holy crap is the exact expression i would have used too :-) boese BTW i am not responsible for you clicking on any more links, or responsible for the contents of those sites, so please do not dog me for it ! :-) it is more funny than anything else anyway ... |

Did this one get linked? I don't remember where I found it, and I can't read the text on it either. Might be good for an idea anyway.

Capt. Pete, Should it just say "GUAM" at the bottom or do you want a port/bay/city in front of it? "@@@@@, GUAM" Got your note this a.m. with not enough time to reply but I think I have "it" and I'll send a scan from home tomorrow afternoon. |

Jim - doesn't need any copy at all. Boese - You might hear it in discussions of world commerce: "Pacific Rim Nations, etc. etc." No NPR in Germany, but maybe PRI, for Intertnational. And you might hear it on BBC world news as well. That's always good for a different slant on things, plus it's fun to listen to the Limeys talk. |

Well talk of irony. I was talking to my mother, who is some unknown reason, takin up with writing poetry. She wrote a poem about following her through hell on a daily basis(don't ask). The point being she wants to print up t-shirts and have the poem beside what else? A picture of the grim reaper. She couldn't find any good pictures so I told her I would check the net for her. Low and behold I come to check in on the BWB, and what do I find. Man I love this site. Maybe this is a good sign for dear old mom, or is it a bad sign? I'm getting a sickly feeling. |

That’s one of the things about you that I like so much, Sean; you’re predictable. I mashed the button on my stopwatch when your post popped up: I missed it by 23 minutes! Not bad, considering I’m ten time zones AHEAD of you. |

I think I got it covered. Jim Bantz (JB2) sent me his design for a logo, and hit it right on the head. We'll post it when we get it finalized. Thanks to all for your help on this. (Even Boese and Rocket.) lord of the rims - sheesh! Capt. Pete |

I guess it is too late. I don't know why it took me so long to remember this one. It may be too tame and childish, but there is a cartoon called the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy where two kids are befriended by the Grim Reaper. Here are some misc. pics of Grim: 1313 |

Well, it won't be because you've worked any harder or longer at it. Different paths, but I should be over the hump in a month or so, with the tough part behind me. The reapin's the easy part: just ride out there to the banks and make a few withdrawals. |

Off shore fishing boats do, Sean. Generally on the upper side band. Simplex and duplex. Talk 'round the world on 'em. Receive weather faxes, too. Even emails. |

Well, I'm not sure about that, Paul. Send me one or two and we'll see how it works. If the pilot house gets to smelling a little fishey, my hopes will be up - to use one of Rocket's expressions. |
