Ok heres my take on the new XB9SX.I went down to the local dealer and low and behold it was there but not on the floor yet.I got invited in back to look at it.I liked it,liked it enough to maybe put the body work on my XB12S.The seat was comfortable more so then what came on last years. Those hand guards,I think they are fugly but may be a asset in the cold to direct some wind off the digits. The bars well there a joke so don't go buy them. They are the same bar's we have on all are XB9S's and XB12S's all they did is weld a X-bar on them, the bend the width and everything is the same no benefit to get from them, glad I have my Moose Racing bars. The tires have a profile and the nice round crown much the same as the M1's that we all seem to agree that we like. The tires look like they would be awesome in wet weather as well. |

I set up one of these and took it out for it's maiden ride today and this model is a much better motorcycle (for me) than the previous XB Lightnings. The seat is taller, wider and has a larger rider's section so it feels like you're perched on a larger machine. The tires also get rid of the front end nervousness so, of course, I was scheming on how to afford an XB12S and then putting on this seat and the Pirellis. Oh, the exhaust note sounded a bit throatier as well. This is a really nice bike. edited by SteveFord on July 25, 2004 |

Susquehana HD/Buell brought their XB9SX to the Bike Fest at Carlisle, PA and had it where the The Buell Demo Truck parked. I like the looks, except you can see the molding marks through the plastic, but strategically placed buckle guards/stickers would cover them. i would love to see more translucent colors offered, like the existing Amber, then maybe yellow, red, and green. I demoed an XB9SLow (again) and I still like the 9's power delivery better than the 12's. |

I demoed an XB9SLow (again) and I still like the 9's power delivery better than the 12's. I agree Jose. I test rode a 12, expecting to really like it, and want one. I was able to take it up on Angeles Crest Hwy and moderately put it through it's paces. On the city streets, especially at stoplights, leading to the Hwy, the down low grunt of the 12 was fun and felt good, but once on the mountain twisties I was surprised to discover that I really wanted my 9 and the way it delivers it's power in the twisties. I was glad to get back on my 9, and feel all the more satisfied with it now. Timbo |

DaveS...How much for the black levers and or part numbers? (clutch and brake) also, it seems they are listed as having 43mm forks...does that mean the external 54mm has changed or are the tapers less noticeable? BTW did anyone else notice that the XB9SX has the 12 airbox under that translucent plastic? edited by wyckedflesh on July 26, 2004 |

Wycked - that may very well be where the additional 2 ft/lbs of torque that they're listing for the 2005 9 series engines is coming from...although apparently the ECMs are a different part number as well...new fuel mapping? |

new fuel mapping? I asked this when I first noticed after the Buell web site was updated. I must have asked too early 'cause no one seemed to know. Now that the dealers are back from Cali maybe we'll get some answers, and maybe some new parts to consider. |

I received our first SX in the crate today. I haven't set it up yet, but I did sit on it and wished that seat had been available when I purchased the streetfighter seat last year for my XB9s. The only real complaint I ever had about my lightning was the terrible seat choices, but I was judging it from a 600 + mile day. I'll be giving the lightning back to the dealership here in a few days after 16,000 wonderful miles. I'll be taking a black '04 XB12R for the next year or so. The SX didn't do enough for me to make me change my mind. So I guess I'm saying it's available if anyone has a case of the "gotta have's". If Buell had only come out with a sport-tourer my choice would have been obvious. |
