Starting to pogo a bit (40k miles) and I think the last fork service was around 10k? Trying to remember (I've never done one personally, had it done in the shop when I still worked for the MoCo) what special tools (and what a special pain in the ass it is) will be required for this one? No leaks, but...it's time. |

The main thing you need is a means of compressing the fork springs when you put it back together. You can buy a tool that makes it easy, or several people here have rigged ratchet straps to do it. The other thing you need is a means of getting the fresh oil to the correct level. You can probably rig something to do that or you can buy a tool that makes it easy. |

As I recall the forks are made by Showa. So any Honda dealer should be able to service them. |

I know you are way up by the PA border, but Old Glory HD in Laurel rebuilt my forks. I got the parts from St. Paul because they couldn't get the parts from the HD system. |

I don't need a "rebuild"...nothing is leaking, it's just time for a fluid change. I can talk to the folks where I used to work (HD Frederick) and see if they still have the tools for 'em. Was thinking of just doing my own though...I'll read the manual and see what all is involved specifically first though, so I don't have a pile of "how does this go back together" in my garage! |

I had to replace a leaking fork seal on my '07. This video is pretty good although the filming is, well, amateur. No special tools either. Changing just the fluid is even easier. https://youtu.be/eIe1esOIobQ |

Hey Joe, here's a thread I did a long time ago. I did a lot more than just change the oil but there might be some info that will help. I did make a couple of tools so hope it helps. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442538.html?1236474150 |
