There is missing from this review ( & presumably the book ) 2 major factors that Might, & I emphasize, Might, explain IQ difference between groups. Up front, the entire field of measuring IQ is controversial in that illiteracy has a Profound effect on learning. Ignorant is not stupid. Even If the questions on a test are read to the tested, there's a VAST knowledge base that hasn't been translated to YouTube or PBS documentary. All humor related to written language is missing, for example, and entire divisions of thought provoking history are simply not popular enough, or actively censored, thus won't be part of the knowledge base of the tested. ( an example would be the poetry of Rudyard Kipling and the Context that you need to understand it well. Colonial era context is darned unpopular and rare even before the Woke Decline of Thought ) And I'm not expert in IQ testing. The statistics used to manipulate data, yes, somewhat. ( based on industrial quality and process control career ) History, I'm a specialist in technology, have some broad based contextual learning, but am not a general expert. ( knowing how Henry VIII's armor was made doesn't inform me as to his sexuality, for example ) Major factor One. Sorting. Or eugenics, migration, location of ancestral tribes in relation to active Arab slave trading operations. Etc.etc. Arab slaver operations today are not that different from the 16th century. North Africa and it's West Coast. A much smaller operation today, since the European customer base is almost nonexistent. ( used to be a big money maker for mostly English & Western Europe powers ) But the old days it was limited by travel restrictions. There weren't paved roads and access to inland areas, it was all along the coast where the slaves were purchased from coastal tribes who bought them from warring tribes further inland. Your chance of getting to be a sugar cane farm slave in Jamaica was pretty low if your tribe was in East Central Africa. That's just one sorting factor. Also tests in African countries may have limited relationship to tests on immigrant descendants here from generations ago. Demographics have changed over centuries. There's a long cascade of sorting for IQ, in over 200 years. Some natural, smarter people tend to move towards better opportunity. Mass migration from the Southern rural to Northern urban in search of better jobs. ( farming is hard work ) Major factor 2 Deliberate Sorting. Some intentional, Planned Parenthood's now Century of Eugenics, for example. The abortion factor alone may account for a large difference in test scores today. I won't argue the assumptions that apply, or the morality, simply ask/speculate that if unwed poor pregnant women who have abortions are smarter than those who don't, you aren't sorting for smart. There is systemic racism. It's mostly a Leftist phenomena in the 21st century America, but goes back to long before the Civil War in unbroken line of political power. Slavery, terrorism, segregation, all predate the Klan Party being assimilated by the Left. The biggest difference between 1776, ( see musical! Molasses to Rum ) and 2000 is the honesty. Leftists Lie. And the Klan Party education and segregation policies both sort for intelligence and concentrate the low side of the bell curve demographically and geographically. So it's uncertain how much, but absolutely true that it's real, that deliberate sorting over the history of mankind is a factor in the differences between groups of humans in this world. ****** The above all focuses on one ethnic origin group. Ignoring the very real if denied mixing of genetics, and geographic isolation. ( it's possible that the average IQ of the residents of Nowhere Idaho is double that of Boston. That won't show up on a nationally based study. ) The question of why Asians test higher is a whole 'nother ball of issues.  Frankly, the reasons for that statistical phenomena may be far more interesting and useful to study. And always remember, groups and statistics are not individuals. More importantly, dividing people into groups and ignoring that individuals vary greatly, is really stupid and dishonest. | ||

I was studying physics at the time I was hanging out with some friends drinking beer and welding - typical Friday nite in the hood I grew up in. We had made derby cars, enduro cars, and general cruisers but their real enthusiasm was for drag racing. So as I’m sitting there as my 18 year old self, explaining how smart a feller I am to these guys who barely made it out of HS or were drop outs, we are cutting out parts of the floorboard of a 60 something (I think it was a satellite but definitely dodge) and welding in rectangular tubing to join the subframes. My friends proceeded to explain weight transfer, twist due to torque vectoring, and how that affected off the line hook up when trying to launch what they were shooting to be an 8 second car. All while flipping burgers on the grill and shooting clays with the Shotty. Education and smarts are two completely different spheres in the Venn diagram of life. | ||

This effectively made getting to a downtown business much longer in time, or distance. Killing growth in the inner city, but encouraging huge malls and shopping strips in the suburbs. Not sure on statute of limitations, so no mention of how fast a GS750 could go there. ) With the announcement by the Blatant Lying Marxist millionaires and associated Soros groups that they were going to block the Bridge, the rumor was that there might be some drive through counter protest. ( as in "I ain't going to stop for nothin!" posts on local boards. So the Mayor had the occupation stopped before it really got going, since she didn't want the Bad Press as some angry people might strike back at the arsonists and innocent beaters that were rioting. I can see the logic without agreement. If the people that burned down my apartment and the minority ( asian/Indian ) owned small business it was over announced they would be deliberately be standing on a bridge with no escape and threatening everyone... I can see that as a temptation. So did the Mayor. In it's totality, however, my inclination is quite angry. I'm for decent sex ed in jr. High. We could argue ages and details, but I could come up with a plan that would make most people upset for one reason or another, & Not be child rape propaganda. Teens should know how to avoid pregnancy and STDs, and maybe more important, how to get tested and treated without stupid myths and fears keeping their potential problems hidden until too late. Imho there's a fundamental difference in underhanded action between the school nurse having pregnancy tests with not having a parental notification that one was handed out. Vs. telling A 6 year old to hide from their parents the child rape preparation acceptance training I'm seeing from public school teachers. A horrible percentage of teen pregnancy is from rape by "family" members, aka Mom's Boyfriend. And kids need protection from the results of telling a responsible adult their problems. But protecting children from abuse is lightyears different than grooming them for it. I don't have school age kids today, thankfully. | ||

People are imperfect, some want power over others & don't care who it hurts, ( evil exists ) government is a construct of human beings. Thus government should be by the Consent of the governed, or It's an evil dictatorship. Thus government Must be limited, to prevent evil men from using it to become evil dictators. The average guy is too busy working to support his family and civilization, there has to be a group that does management of the "bigger picture" stuff, like a military to keep evil dictators ( like that George guy ) from stealing our stuff and telling us what to do, or he'll kill us. Since we didn't & don't have divine omniscience or the access to Google's horrifying version/perversion of it, we chose the acknowledged imperfect method of democratically elected representatives for choosing temporary managers for our government of the people. ( you can argue a lottery would have been a better choice, but I'll point out that system is also subject to fraud just like we saw in elections, recently ) So basically, it's distrust of human nature, a reluctant realization that perfection is imaginary, and a stubborn refusal to accept the rule of others, that is our strength. Plus, we are a diverse people who gathered here to live under this idea of self rule. Most willingly, a!though there was a minority who came here in chains. ( we had a very bloody war to end that over a century ago, so it's a history well worth remembering, if only to prevent it ever happening again, but it doesn't apply to any living person, today ) Thus our love of salsa and baklava and chicken fried rice is a Feature of a free society. Unless the Republican Party changes it's Establishment mindset, and whenever it is in power tear out racist Democrat Party laws and programs the Evil guys will win. The R Establishment has a half century long "gotta get along to get the funding for my district since I'm a minority" attitude that doesn't get a reset when they get into power. I get the impression The Establishment still hasn't caught on that it was Rush & talk radio that energized The Citizens to vote against the creeping tyranny. Probably because they don't Work for a living and never listened. I spent years driving trucks where The only intellectual stimulation was talk radio & NPR. It's the disconnect between the claims of Caring and The actual results in the news that opened so many minds. Not anything some politician said about Family Values without context on exactly HOW The Black & Poor families were Deliberately Destroyed by welfare rules and a constant agitprop effort to make victimhood an excuse. I personally know people today who struggle hard because working prevents them from getting assistance.
