Anyone tried to mount an sx headlight on the cr? I am wanting to upgrade my lighting. I’m thinking about putting retrofit projectors in the housing or maybe try to mount the SX LED headlight. |

I've seen pics of the 1190 headlight on either a XB or 1125 a while back, I'll have to comb facebook and see if I can find it again. |

I thought I seen a post with a conversion on Facebook a while back. Just so you know; people complain about the EBR headlights as well. I think it's more of an alignment issue as the lumens is max allowed. Cheap price for this one... https://www.ebay.com/itm/EBR-Buell-Racing-1190SX-1 190RX-HEADLIGHT-ASSEMBLY-WORLD-LED-Y0721-1B7-Rev-D /202107332055?hash=item2f0e8925d7:g:hywAAOSwonBaA0 lA&vxp=mtr |

The retrofit kit is 275, and you get dual low and high beam hid projectors. The sx I have to get the mounting bracket and all the fairing panels to make it look good. Does anyone here have the SX? I am curious if the headlight is the best light you’ve ever seen, as it produces the maximum lumens dot allows. |

I have an SX, I agree complaints must be poorly aligned setups, it is the best stock setup I've ever seen on a production bike, and I'd argue it is as good as my truck. I still haven't found the bike with the SX headlight, the FB search is about as good as Yahoo's. |

I recommend upgrading to HID's. I did for my 1125r (and my truck and my wife's car) and it's a huge improvement (every time). My low beams are almost as bright as my high beams. The light dispersion is wider and the overall distance you can see is greatly improved. They actually make my high beams (for my 1125r) seem inadequate. |

If you've got a standard-sized garage, it's not hard to set up a headlight aiming bay. Draw a line 36" from the floor on the front wall, then measure 25 feet horizontally from that line out into your driveway. Put your front axle over that line and shim your kickstand (and possibly rear tire) so the bike is as level as possible in all directions. Your low beam should have a sharp cut-off at the 36" line on the wall, and your high beam should project a circular beam of light just above that line. |

I would upgrade to hid at the same time as the projectors. I hate HID bulbs in halogen housings, as the focus point is not correct which creates glare and doesn’t give the maximum usable light. Mostly I hate them in my eyes, so I don’t want to do it to anyone else. |

You're right, HID's do have a different focal point, and you usually need to re-aim your headlights after installing HID's. I don't know what percentage of vehicles on the road run HID's, but the only ones you tend to notice are the ones that are not correctly aimed. It pisses me off too. It's your patriotic duty to flash your brights at anyone who needs to aim their headlights. Or turn off their stupid light bar. |

Is that all it actually takes??? I thought I’d have to shim it to move the bulb back to get the beam pattern correct. Do you have a picture of your beam pattern on the street? |

I also like the idea of having double the light output with 2 low beam and 2 high beam HID projectors. I am riding an unlit county road where gators cross in the keys |

I'll see if I can remember to get a pic sometime this week. However, I've tried to take before and after pictures of headlight/foglight beams before and i've never been able to get a good pic. I think you have to have a pretty good camera to capture dark and light together in the same pic. Edit: When you turn on your high beam, does your low beam stay on? The HIDs I put in my 1125R had the "light ball" in exactly the same place/position as the halogens. Put them in almost 10 years ago, very good pattern and distance. Z |

I was talking without having any experience just from what people on candlepower forum have told me. I bought an HID kit, and the light ball is in the same place as the filament in the halogen. However, the light doesn’t get reflected the same. There is a lot of scattered light and the cutoff is not sharp at all. |

Hmmm Place I got mine from Dub Lights isn't around anymore. I put mine in the lo-beams and only use the highs(still halogen) to flash at traffic. The lows reach out without going too high, might need to replace them soon tho, they are turning too blue for me. You're right tho, no sharp cutoff since there's no mask in front of the bulb. Z |
