So just picked up a 2001 x1 and the shift lever is wiggly as there are no plastic bushings and on top of that the previous owner stacked washers and a nut to make up for the missing spacer. I am having a hard time tracking down the parts. Any help would be great. (Message edited by charger22 on April 02, 2016) |

The mounting post for the footrest is made of cheese or something very soft, designed to crumble in a crash instead of bending the bikes frame; replace that and most of your problems will go away. |

stand on your pegs and jump up and down. make sure they have not been weakened by drops. the X1 actually shifts OK when everything is right and tight. |

If you've got a 2001 it shouldn't have anything to do with the foot pegs unless for some reason someone put a boomerang shifter on it. Which parts do you need? Plastic Bushings? Steel pivot bushing? Steel wide flange chin fairing bushing? I have some of these items around. Bill |

The 2001-2002 shifter works better. Not as much slop. |

Plastic and steel pivot. No boomerang. Nothing to do with the pegs. Having a hard time getting a pic small enough to post. (Message edited by charger22 on April 05, 2016) |

I think he pulled the bronze bushing listings off eBay. I tried to install one last week, and the supplied sleeve that the bushings rode on was .050 was too short. When I bolted it all together the shifter wouldn't move. He sent my replacement yesterday, so hopefully he has it resolved. |

While you're in there, scrape off the paint on the frame behind the footpeg. After a while, mine got chewed up and interfered with the shifter. Later, I found the same thing started to happen on my brake pedal. Rear brake wouldn't let go all the way. "What's that smell?" |
