Looking to see if anyone on here has, or at least has pictures of, a tube frame with a stock shock (or at least stock length) and an extended swingarm. Anyone? |

The extended swinarm would put huge stress on a stock shock IMHO. The leverage would be far greater then design. Even with a Penske or such they eould need to factor the leverage for the build. Hence why you will see most extended swingarms with solid bars in place of the shock. |

yeah and then the sudden shocks would be transferred into the engine case. I know you wouldn't be touring on such an arrangement but you'd be seriously asking for trouble driving it on the street. |

My personal plan is to drag race a '00 Cyclone, and just trying to keep the front end down. The thing is, now I have more questions than answers... Wheelie bars? Struts? Stock configuration? Added/different shock/strut mounts? ETC..... |

none of the bikes posted have a shock ha And many put a bar on there to make the bike more predictable and cheaper than going through various shocks/spring rates in finding the optimum set up. I drag a 99 S3, the bike in question, but due to not having a tow vehicle at the moment I've been toying with jsut riding it on the street a little bit here and there. Fuzz - what questions do you have? PM me, lets chat |

do you need a stock S1 swingarm? I have one you can extend. I was going to list it on eBay |

Most but not all extended swingarms were extended to fit a rule book. Hot street was limited to 68" and pro street was limited to 70". I am not saying that worked best just that is what people built to. |

I just bought a steel swingarm to be extended, but thanks Michael!! After studying my son's S1, and the photos above, it will be much easier to add a wheelie bar for next season. I think I will have this weekend to myself, so I'm going to try to finish my motor and start final assembly. Perhaps for what's left of this season, I will run it with the aluminum swingarm so I can get some break in miles before I hit the track. I will check the rulebook again for specifics, but I'm probably only going to run at the local track, which only has a motorcycle class. Bracket racing is a good option for me, since consistency is the road to victory. Thanks for everyone's input, I will keep ya'll updated. |
