On June 6, 1995 I walked into Uke's H-D/Buell in Kenosha a cager and came out a Buell owner. That's right, my 1995 Buell S2 Thunderbolt (S2 VIN # 1313) was my first ever motorcycle. It took me 10 years to turn 100,000 miles on it - mainly due to other motorcycles thought worthy enough to share garage space with it, taking away some of my seat time on the S2. It's been to Hell (Michigan) and back twice and definitely is to blame for my motorcycle addiction. Definitely an addiction because I CANNOT STOP! Periodically I like to add up the mileage I've accumulated and since it's my 20th anniversary, it seems a fitting time to do so once again. I limit my calculation on motorcycles that I have held the title to as it's easier to verify than mileage that I put on riding test bikes of a previous employer, friends bikes, or demo rides. So here goes, the current mileages on the bikes I currently own (and have ridden, which is why I left out my 1998 Buell S3T Defender - restoration project - out of the calculation): 1995 Buell S2 Thunderbolt (add a 1 in front of the odometer):
116,793.8 2003 H-D P4 (V-Rod VRSCA):
48,642 2008 Buell XB12XT (XT-BOLT):
62,394 2009 Buell 1125CR:
19,323 2014 EBR 1190RX:
4,951.2 So, my total for bikes that I still own is: 252,104 If I add in the 3 Dyna Wide Glides I had for about a year each: 1999 9,000 (approximately) 2000 10,000 (approximately) 2001 14,000 (approximately) I'm at 285,104 miles (approximately) in the 20 years that I've been riding. I guess the next 'milestone' to do a mileage check will be when I'll have been riding for half of my life, as I bought my S2 when I was 23 - which means that I am not too far away from it. I was hoping to take my S2 out yesterday or today, but rain yesterday and catching up after getting back from Homecoming and mowing lawn today kept me from doing so. Actually the biggest hurdle will be moving all the parts that have been accumulating for the Defender so that I can jockey the bikes around in order to get the S2 out. So, in order to get some other messages on this thread: 1. What was your first bike? 2. What was your first Buell? 3. How many miles have you accumulated? Here's to MANY MORE years and miles to come! 1313 |

first bike... this 1985 Honda Z50R...(pic from this weekend. we were just out at the dirtbike rec area playing on them.) first buell... my 03 xb9r mileage? i have no idea... its hard enough just to have any idea how many miles i put on in a year when i hop between all my bikes. not counting the bikes looking for homes that end up at my place for awhile, where i ride them then eventually rehome them... heck some of those have gotten 10,000 plus before i moved them onto their new caretaker...
