Thankx bud! Yeah I am trying to deal with my 15,000 mi service. Changing the belt and idler pulley sucks! I caught 3 dealers slippin. One I even had to quote from the service manual for him to believe me. Servicing this bike has proven to be REALLY expensive! I wish I would have known that before I bought it. But none the less - I love it! |

BJ, I was going to change my belt and pulley at 15k and decided against it, after I took it off and had the dealer mechanic look at it. He said "is that a new belt". Then informed me that they sometimes last to 80k. I still have a new on sitting in the box. and have over 27k on her now. The only thing that I have the dealership do is warranty work, and fork oil change(only because I don't have the tools for that yet). Ski edited by xb9rski on March 30, 2004 |

I have been doing the same with my services. Doing most of it myself. But not the fork oil. The guy @ my local shop I go to, used to have a Firebolt, raced out with a lot of mods. He said he snapped 3 belts. Suggested changing it on time and keeping the belt just in case. They also looked at my belt and said they thought it was time. I am gonna change it. Better safe than sorry. I don't want to be in the middle of the canyons and have it go out! Hey Ski, where in Ohio are you? I was born there. Grew up in Columbus. I live in Cali now. How is the riding out there in the flat country? Run into any cows yet? :P |

To tell you the truth, all I've done so far is Firebird and Torqufest other than my daily commute. Bart is a ridin' fool though and I'm sure he'd love to get together with us, along with all the other AZ Buelligans out here. |
