97 m2 has very limited choices for exhaust. I dont really like my V&H, power is good but dont like the sound. For sh*ts & giggle I removed all the insides of muffler, sounded much better but lost bottom and mid,not to mention what would happen to motor over time so I put it all back in.I really like the sound of D&D but no listings due to 2" collector on 97. Now if I change the header to 98 s1/s3 to get 2.5" D&D only lists models from 99 on up. Are rear mounts compatible from 97 to 99m2s?. Also I've read that collector location is slightly different. That creates a new problem if they wont line up correctly. If a 99 up rear mount location is same as 97 what about having a new elbow bent to use stock header going from 2 to 2.5 or bent to match a 2.5.What about White bros.E series they list a 97m2, but i havent heard one, I do like the fact that they are tunable, but are they like supertrapps and prone to falling apart? Am I wasting my time on D&D. What to do? I like my bike and really dont want to buy a newer ride just make me happy in with the exhaust. thanks for taking the time to read, any thoughts would be MUCH appreciated. |

Due to cam timing on the M2, the stock exhaust is the way to go. I think an aftermarket pipe would be a waste of your money. |

Bhdm2, The Force exhaust system is WAY bad on your bike- I happen to know of one just sitting around that the owner would probably sell cheap. He took it off because it was too loud. If sound is an issue, the best pipe BY FAR is the race header and pipe. Hoot, I disagree. The owner of the Force reported a substantial boost in (butt dyno) performance with either system installed; moreso with the Force, but the neighbors were getting pissed. |

Captiankirk, E mail me with info, I'll consider the force. Could always put the streetbaffle in to somewhat quiet it down. Neighbors will love me when I leave for work at 6:30am |

Yeah, the owner says he might sell if the offer's good enough. I don't exactly know what that means (not sure he does either?) How much would you offer? I could give you his email but he doesn't check it that often. |

Bhdm2, Bad news. I talked to him this weekend and he's decided to hang on to it. Sorry, man! BTW- Check out the D&D site- I believe they now make an entire system for the '97. edited by captainkirk on April 13, 2004 |

Tom; I'll do that. Also, I usually see an exhaust every couple of weeks or so on eBay-(search:Buell) I'll throw you a post if I see anything good. Rock on! |
