BuellieDan, The S3 shock is a straight rate spring with an overall higher spring rate. The X1 shock is progressive rate spring and a lower overall spring rate. Both take up the same amount of real estate. |

Lake_bueller, Yes, the S1 has a much lighter spring. I should clarify a statement above. The 2001 and later X1 and S3 shocks take up the same amount of real estate. The 2000 and earlier versions of both shocks are longer. That is the reason for the new mount used on the 2001 and later shocks. |

The shock on my X-1 is longer by 1.77" The shock I have will fit on my X-1 with the mounting equipment it comes with, but the spring and compression is different. So basically ... What Anonymous said edited by jayzen on March 06, 2004 |

Blasterd Considering tachs usually have the same amount of pickups ie battery, ground and coil... I would guess and say yes, but I would take the advise of the shop you are buying it from... Last I knew Drag had a tech line you could call... |

I need some input from the experts. I am running a race ECM and a PC III on my '02 S3T. I have been randomly throwing a check engine code for a Cam Position Sensor failure. It seems to occur when the engine is warm after a long ride and the bike is left idle for a few minutes. If I shut the bike off and restart the code clears. HELP!! Todd |

ChopperBoy...Start with the X1 Files under PCMIII and then progress towards the OS2 sensor. You will get some good fundamentals there. |

Chopperboy.....ran into similar issues on my '01 S3...was gettin unprovoked engine codes from the bike....after discussing with the techs at my local HD/Buell shop, they explained they had seen this occurring with some regularity....and it always ended up being a failure of the PCIII...in my case it was giving me 'injector failure' fault codes. Discussed my options with them, pulled the PCIII, installed a Techlusion F.I. modulator, was able to dial the Techlusion to within 1 HP of the PCIII, and just a little loss on the smoothness of my air/mix ratio. Absolutely no issues with the Techlusion for the last year. |

ChopperBoy...Same comment as T-Bolt. The Techlusion DFO works great on my X1 with the Race ECM. S320002...Haven't done the rock trick in over 40 years and never did the oil thing. Sorry if you took it wrong. Wycked...Glad to hear you guys didn't have any trouble with the run off. It used to mess up a lot of canyon and mountain rides in So Cal's rainy season. Fond memories... |

I need some help with a strange problem with my 1998 S1. When I ride for a few miles in cold weather (20's to low 30's) my engine starts to miss at low RPM's. The engine can be warmed up and it still will miss if the air is cold in fact the engine runs good when its first started and is still cold. As soon as the air temp warms up into the mid 30's or warmer the problem goes away. I have tried using heat in the gas & octaine booster but it will still happen sometimes. Nick |
