Do I need to remove the front fairing to get to that plug? I am not absolutely sure, I believe that is a yes, and its not hard to take off, or replace. Let me check on reading codes from the system. too } |

Well, at $4 more, I would also just go with the HD one as we know it will fit right from the start. Make certain the terminals are correct. If they are not then return and get the right one. |

Thanks guys. Not to completely change the subject, but while the bike is down a couple of days til I can get the battery Im thinking of doing the valve inspection. Im reading about people that have done it in about 4.5 hours, so I am thinking about 6 hours for my first go at it. Going to post new thread with a few questions. |

Yep the more you post the more it appears your battery is the issue. Like mentioned above, the machine needs a healthy battery to run right. When the bike is hot, it is running the two high powered fans, headlights, tail light, fuel pump, injectors, and the rest of the fuel injection and electrical system. It takes quite a bit of current to keep the bike running, and if the battery is unable to hold a decent charge, things are not going to have enough power to run at lower RPMs like in traffic. If you are running accessories like heated grips or aux lights, you are just increasing the load. This was part of the reason the stator output was beefed up on the 09+ models. While there could be issues related to your fuel pump causing the stalls, I'm inclined based on your posts to continue to believe the battery simply is not doing its job any longer. I can't comment on the valve adjustment questions you've posted, but from what I've read it is not bad if you are mechanically inclined. |

the dismantling and reassembly will take longer than the check, you will want at least 1 long day, for the valve check presuming that you don't need shims. if you had the needed shims the adjustments take less than 2 hours |
