Okay- We are on for June 27-29 at the Red Hill Resort. There is a motel, duplexes, and cabins. I have cabin #8 for all three nights so if anyone else wants to ride in on thursday they won't be alone there. The phone is (530) 623-4331 and Patty is the entire staff. So don't be calling after 8pm PST as she needs to get her rest. The place has lots of multiple bed options so you can buddy up and split costs. The sooner you make reservations the better, Patty is old school and can't figure out how to hold the place just for us, but she says she shouldn't start getting other inquires until the end of this month. And also, she says bike groups are her favorite customers. www.redhillresorts.com On the welcome page there is a link to price schedule that lists all the different rooms and cabins available. There are even some with carports which should have room for a bunch of bikes. I want to use this thread to plan and organize, we can just let the previous threads slide into the archive. Shane |

The town is Weaverville California, in the Trinity Alps of Northern California. Every route there is a fantastic ride, except 299 west out of Redding. I came in on that last summer and it is in a huge widening and straightening project with pilot cars and gravel for miles. Instead, coming from the east use 36 out of Red Bluff and connect with 3 north to 299. That stretch of road will blow your mind. From the coast you can come over on 36 or 299. Having ridden both on my S2 I would give top honors to 36, less traffic and much twistier. From the north you can take 3 out of Yreka and come over Scott Mountain. Be prepared to get a stiff neck trying to gather in all the views while screaming through the hairpins. |

No, but Whiskeytown is a National Recreation Area, not a town, so there is plenty of room to stop. That is the part of 299 that is under destruction. (Message edited by essmjay on December 12, 2013) |

So we'll just turn Weaverville into Whiskeytown, then, shall we? BTW, Shane, she says you're in cabin 9, not 8. |

That's funny, she told me 9 wasn't available, she must have revised it since 9 was my first request. As long as I have a bed I am happy. What did you get? |

average temperature for June is 86 with 1/2" precip. Being in the hills it cools off at night. Won't be anywhere as hot as down in the valley at Red Bluff. |

I will be evangelizing this at ASBN tonight - Jon is also S2 owner, and his is really pretty. Not prettier than Rhonda, of course. See the thread in Storm Fronts for the venue change for January ASBN - the planning meeting for 2014 is being held at Jon's house in Castro Valley. |

I have reserved a room for the 27th and 28th of June at the hotel. I just talked with Larry Frieze. He is coming with a couple of guys. Alan smith may come, riding one of the S2's. Jon Rosendal? not for sure. Jack Van Voast, not for sure. Rex |

Due to popular demand, Saturdays event will be an all day ride out to the Redwoods and back. Lunch will be at Eel River Taproom and Grill. I suggest we take hwy3/36 to get there, and then going back you can take 101/299 if you want a loop. That does take you through Eureka and there will be more traffic on 299 then on 36, but can be fun. I have ridden both routes and I think that on a motorcycle the 3/36 route is more fun. Also, the Eel River location is only a short distance from the Avenue of the Giants if you want to cruise the redwoods. 36 also goes through some great old growth. Then we can plan on dinner back in Weaverville. I am going to do site selection on Thursday and Friday, but there are lots of choices. Shane |

route for Saturday- Those drive times are very optimistic, I would allow more like 4 hours on each route.

So here is another day ride: from Weaverville to Yreka. https://goo.gl/maps/Re8Qr This road goes right through the heart of the Trinity Alps. There is miles of nothing but forest and rivers and curves, including a mountain pass with extreme twisties. There a few places you can get down to the river and cool off if needed. This is the route I will be taking coming into town on Thursday so I will have a current ride report. |
