I'm looking at the front gaifer wave rotor. If I fit this rotor is it ok to use the original rotor mounting hardware or is it like the EBR rotor that needs the hardware?

While a fresh set of stock hardware can be used, the EBR ones are a nice upgrade and are less expensive.

I was under the impression the ebr mounting kit was only compatible with the ebr rotor. How does the ebr mounting kit upgrade from the stock mounting kit.

The EBR hardware is compatible with all XB/1125 front rotors. The kit has some changes like removal of the springs and it has copper washers. This reduces the amount of float the rotor has and allows the wheel to become a heatsink to provide some additional cooling to the rotor. While most of us don't ride at a pace that heat is a major issue, the lack of the springs reduce the chances of getting the brake rotor pulsing, as one of the causes was dust buildup in springs.

In addition to what Froggy said, the EBR kit uses Belleville spring washers to allow some movement of the disk:

I've found another front wave rotor made by a company called "braking". Is that one any good or should I go with the gaifer?

You can put whatever rotor you want on your bike. Choose the right one If it's for asthetics or performance or just to fix something that isn't broken
But If your getting 'pulsing' at the lever, I'd say to change your brake pads to some EBC and never look back

pulsing can be solved with the EBR up grade screws. I know by experience on 2 Buell

I have no first hand experience with the rotor mounting kit. EBC pads fixed it for me.
Could we agree that there are a few ways to permanently and temporarily solve the pulsing?

From my experience first we changed wheel bearings they were fine, then steer bearings they were ok, and then the wheel screws for the EBR kit, after all it was the rotor hardware, on the second bike i did i went directly to change the rotor screws, the dealer told him the rotor was bent, it wasen't so.

There are multiple causes of brake pulsing, including deposits on the rotor and excessive buildup of crud in the mounting hardware. What fixes it for one person may not be the fix for another, so replacing both the hardware and rotor is a bit of a shotgun approach but will fix it 9 out of 10 times.

If you service and look after your brakes, in the correct manner, you should have few problems.

It seems like it needs to be said, as some do not know, that a bike of this type is a high performance machine that if it was a car would be in the same class as a basic Porsche.
Treat it like a model T Ford and that is all you will get from it.

cleaning the rotor fixed mine. It looks like it's due again but the brake works fine. All I did was just mopped it off with brakeclean. I did notice that when the pad wore to the point that the grooves in it were gone, it began pulsing so new pads and cleaned rotor.
